Tophouse Historical Inn
One of my all-time favourite accommodation experiences. Helen and Clint are wonderful hosts. The Inn is in great condition. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfy and the bathrooms are spotless. The grounds are beautiful and the views are brilliant. And I highly recommend having dinner here at least once. Chef Sebastian (my apologies for the probably- incorrect spelling) is a delight ... bubbling with enthusiasm as he plies you with the freshest of ingredients. Stay here ... even if you have to beg! You won't be sorry. Ps. Don't mind the dog ... she's old and all bark and she quietens down when she gets to know you. Tim

Absolutely loved this place, we were very well looked after and stayed in the main building. The place definitely has character and local history.Enjoyed a tea outside when we arrived and explored the garden.We had a nice sized room and comfortable bed.There was a nice dinning area where we had breakfast. Also available a lounge with TV.

Awesome location, love the fireplaces, very friendly and accommodating hosts, super cute and quaint bar (smallest in NZ?) and a fascinating history of the house. Highly recommended.

Place was impeccable and full of history. We didn't know it was a cob building so that was a huge additional surprise :) Clean & comfortable. We stayed in the main building which was very well taken care of. Showers and toilets were very clean & modern. Great variety of tea & coffee available. Helen and Clint were lovely hosts. Breakfast was awesome. Just 5 min drive from St Arnaud town centre. We would 100% come back!

Best place I stayed in NZ ! Helen and Clint are absolutely great hosts and everything is marvellous. Excellent food, both lunches and dinners and it's all spotlessly clean. Lovely location too. Highly recommended !

Awesome little place, Helen, Clint and Ms Marley were great hosts. We felt welcome and at home. The dinner was exquisite, and the included breakfast was generous with very fluffy eggs. Great range of drinks at the bar too. Thanks for having us (two scruffy trampers).

Lovely little Hotel with 4 self contained very nice cabins. Fully equipped, warm, comfortable, TV, reasonable rates.The Hotel caters for meals, excellent chef. Only a few choices. I felt they were a little expensive. Recommend A+++

Tophouse Historical Inn
A fabulous little gem of history. New Zealand's smallest pub licensed in 1846 and still going strong. The owners are so lovely and passionate and the guesthouse has all the treasures of some very interesting history. A must place to visit for a pint or to stay the night.
