We stopped here for lunch on our road trip and what a historic little Tavern. A most interesting and enjoyable place to eat in a very 'out of town' place - almost wilderness!We ordered the Carnivores Hot Meat Share Platter and it was way more than the two of us could eat!! (We took our leftovers for another meal.) Unique place to eat and we highly recommend it!

We stayed here for one night while cycling the Otago Rail trail. The two bedroom accommodation was dirty. It had definitely not been vacuumed in awhile, dead fly on the blanket in one of the bedrooms and absolutely no ventilation; no AC and no windows that opened. I asked if they had a fan for the place and the owner laughed and said, No". No apology or apparent interest in improving the situation

Wonderfully friendly staff and good, hearty food. Beautiful, old tavern built in 1885 with lots of atmosphere. Great place to break down in our camper van if it had to happen (which is what happened to us!). We had the steaks, venison and salmon for dinner, with apple and rhubarb crumble and tiramisu for dessert. All very tasty. The owner Ange said it was no problem at all for us to stay camped in our vans in the tavern carpark overnight. Thanks very much for having us :).

Must stop in here if you get the chance! Jen was the most warm and welcoming host and the food was flawless (admittedly our entire table ordered the lamb shanks and mousse).They were also great with babies

Lovely lunch but unfortunately spoilt by the rude owner yelling not once but twice at the top of her lungs at us for looking at their accommodation in the stables. The door was wide open! She yelled from the door in the garden bar that it was private. No sign up to say otherwise. Yes, we saw the guest bags waiting outside the door so knew someone was due in. Hubby and I didn’t go in and were saying that we could stay there when we do the rail trail. Not now!We were there with over 30 friends who also said afterwards that that was over the top! There is a better way to approach people Lady!
