Grounds are great, the parking though... ATROCIOUS. Multiple sports played at one time, best to arrive 40mins before your expected at grounds as you will be driving in circles for 30+mins waiting for a park.

Great performing arts community, one of the best in Wellington. Well established dance troupes, choirs, acting groups, and an amazing production put on every year.

TEDx Youth @ Paparangi Event - Interview with Anush GoelInterviewers Sia and KeyaSia: What is the TEDx Youth @ Paparangi Event?Anush: Um, in general the TEDx Youth @ Paparangi Event is broken into three different sections. The first and most evident is about speakers speaking their perspective, and speaking up about things which they really care about. The second is about youth organisations; and basically for organisations, sharing why- what they do matters to youth in our community. And last, and probably most important: Is having the Wellington community come together and speak about important issues which matter in today's age.Sia: Talk us through your theme of the year, and why you chose it?Anush: Team of- So we made our- We started interviews in January and after a long process, we ultimately decided on a small team consisting- consisting of people who have lots of experience around the event-Sia: I meant theme.Anush: Hm?Sia: I meant theme, like theme.Anush: Team?Sia: Theme, like for your-Keya: Theme.Anush: Theme! That makes sense. chuckle That makes a lot of sense. Okay, so, the theme of this year is 'Through My Eyes'. 'Through My Eyes' describes ways in which speakers understand their world. In general, the reason why I chose this theme and why I- the team chose this theme is because of the word- like, around the word 'sonder'. Sonder describes a realisation that each and every person lives a life just as vivid and colourful as you, yourself; and as I walk through streets of Wellington, there's something that really stood out to me. How so many people I walked past had their own stories to tell, and yet weren't able to tell them in the way- in any way. By giving them the stage of a TEDx talk, they can speak through their

Greetings, curious stranger, this will potentially be the most honest guide you will ever find here on google reviews of this school ( though why are you looking at google reviews anyway? ) written by the average bored student at NC and I hope you thoroughly enjoy your stay. There are many components that make up the overall quality of a school, and the prioritisation of certain elements in a school differs from person to person. However, I still believe that there are two core things that should always be taken into consideration:- The sufficiency of the resources provided in order to prepare the individual for future career pathways e.g teaching ability, learning equipment, facilities and opportunities presented etc- The quality of the community in which individuals are able to consistently experience a strong sense of self and belonging within a social environmentThus I will be directing my focus onto these topics ( plus there is a word limit on google reviews so it is madly disappointing I can't make this into a 50 page thesis )1. The matter of physical matter - The material resources to aid learning offered here at this school are... decently acceptable. Yes, half the test tubes may be cracked at the rim, the chrome-books offered at the library may be slower than NZ's application process for citizenship, and the textbooks may be as old as the Queen. But in general, all these things are ( usually, sometimes, often ) still in plenty usable condition, and will not stunt your child's ability to learn - though if your child cannot handle slightly ragged things, I suggest you cross your fingers and hope you kept that receipt.2. Teachers - Regarding the teaching situation at our beloved school... it ranges from being atrociously horrible to wonderfully pleasant which I know, is not helpful information at all. Like many things in life, it is based on luck of the draw, and of course connections if you have them. I will make it very clear that 99.99% of the teachers at Newlands College are friendly and easy to talk to, but approximately 34.52% know how to actually teach, though I have to be honest that the remaining 65.47% of teachers have taught me how to learn on my own in a way that the other 34.52% never could. So, your child will get the education they need, in one way or another, whether it be from a skilled educator or an organiser of quizlets and kahoots for every lesson.3. Facilities - In any other previous year I would not have felt the need to add discussion regarding school facilities however I am taking this chance as a year 13 trying to survive the 2022 school year to rant about the construction. While I am happy for the school to be upgrading its facilities for future generations to come, I am deeply upset to be leaving during a year where half my lunchtime is spent trying to find an area to sit down and consume nutrients INDOORS because no I am not a plant I will not photosynthesise outside especially not in the rain thank you very much. Otherwise, future little year nines, enjoy the brand new facilities you lucky lucky children.4. Opportunities offered - long story short, they do exist *gasp* wow! I'm kidding ( or am I? ) I would like to say that the number of opportunities your child gets at this school are... enough? Perhaps I am biased due to our heavily neglected debating club, but I do believe that s o m e other schools may present maybe a l i t t l e more opportunities than we have here. Perhaps I am just biased on this one.5. Community - This is no doubt the best thing on this list you will find here at our school. If your child wants:- friends- more friends- and a lot more friends- happiness- growth ( not in height, I tried that, didn't work )- A healthy & supportive communityYour child needs to come here. If not, send them to Tawa or something.Lastly, if you want your child to flourish, it is important to send them to the school that best fits them. Be a good parent. Send them to Newlands College. If you're already a student here, I wish you the best of luck.

As a genuine review, it took 5 years for me to understand what experiences you may have here are so valuable that it makes you want to not leave. My recommendation is to make the most of your time here; many of the teachers will respect you for who you are, and I hope any future or current students cherish the memories they make here. There are many clubs to check out and you will feel much more of a sense of belonging and community. There are many moments that are worth remembering, and I hope for the best for whoever reads this. ここから、気を付けてね、さようなら!
