Maraetotara Falls
Beautiful little waterfall formed from an old dam. There is a short nature walk down to an active hydro power station. There is a public toilet of the new age long drop design but it is clean and well maintained.Lots of roadside parking but still hard to find a park on a hot day. Many great little swimming spots.Bring some decent shoes for the walk as some areas are muddy and slippery as it follows the stream bed down stream.

Stunning. Great spot for swimming & jumping in. A rope swing there too, if you’re brave enough. Track down to the water requires good balance as one part is along an old concrete water pipe that Is slightly sloped.

There are 2 parking spots, choose the one by the toilet (check there is enough poo tickets before logging out) as it is a more user friendly path to the falls. A short 2 minute walk. Nice place for a swim.

Awesome spot with a beautiful semi-manmade waterfall and a nice deep swimming hole below. There are a number of places to jump from rocks into the pool below and there's a rope swing too. The best place to park is at the middle carpark with the toilet and walk the short track to the bottom of the swimming hole. From there you can climb up to the left to get to the rock jumps and rope swing.

35 minutes drive from Napier and 20 minutes from Hastings. 5 minutes walk from car park to the waterfall. Water was little bit cold, but there were plenty of people who swam. Recommend this place to those who are nearby. We didn't see anybody who tried that famous rope.

When we go down near to the waterfalls then will get the best view and experience of the Maraetotara falls. From the carpark on Maraetotara Road, you can get to the falls by heading down the wooden stairs and following the Maraetotara Historic Walk for about 10 minutes to the base of the waterfall. There is a great swimming hole at the base of the waterfall, so take a towel if you feel like a dip. Some people jump from the top of the falls, but it is dangerous and we would not recommend it.

Cool little walk to the falls along the stream. Plenty of bird life to see. The water falls are beautiful and look like a nice place to cool off in the summer.
