The one star is for the great quality food served in the restaurant. This hotel is far from being 5 star rated. It is in desperate need of a high pressure hose, full refurbishment to get it out of the late 90's and a deep clean. It has so much potential but clearly nobody wants to spend any money on it. We stayed mid week last week. Would never recommend or ever stay there again.

This has the name “resort” in its title, but I wouldn’t really call it that. It is a totally functional hotel that has a reasonable room and a decent restaurant. The location is great as it is right next to the beach and within walking distance of the pier and restaurants. I don’t have any major complaints about the room but it’s not going to impress you or anything; it’s clean and everything works and there is enough space to get things done so that’s really all you need in a hotel room.

Contrary to some reviews here, we found the place satisfying and relaxing. Who cares if the design is a bit dated? After all, it met all the requirements a weary family needed. Comfortable bed, warm bath, relaxing pools and a short walk to the middle of town for food. Also, there’s a cafe at the corner, and a gas station with surprisingly cheap gas!Ayush and Sam were wonderful in getting us sorted out with everything we needed. Top marks for the service of these two fine gentleman. Because of you guys, this is now our go to place this side of the north island! Keep up the great work and thank you!

Start of stay was not great, as we were told upon arrival at 2 pm, that our room was not ready and would not be ready for another 20 minutes. We had traveled from out of town. Returned to be told it still wasn't ready, we were then late to our couples massage. Aside from that, room was wonderfully clean and had an amazing view on the third floor. Pool was great and our massage and pedicure for me was amazing.

Nice hotel, but with improvement possibilities, like the kettle in the room was disgusting (dark stuff inside, never seen one like that before). The room was huge and enough space to spend there some time. But they were not well insulated, it was possible to hear every word and step of others. Also the room doors didn't close properly, always needed to make sure they are closed.Plus for the bathtub with jets.

I Stayed with a group in 2 bedroom apartments we had to wait an hour to check in as rooms weren't ready told we could wait in restuarant and grab a drink but was told when we walked in the restuarant was about to close. When we finally got to our rooms the bed configuration wasn't as we had requested when booking and no staff on duty to remedy so we got the linen and remade beds ourselvesThe paint in the bathroom was peeling off the walls paint roller patches different colour in several areas throughout large chunks out of the wall where bin has been hitting and tiles over spa bath need a mould treatment paint flaking off bathroom ceilings. The hallway walls as you walk through to get to the spa treament room looked extremely dirty in desperate need of painting not a good 1st impression.Fortunately the treatment room was much better. The building clearly needs maintanance mostly paintingVery disappointed highly overpriced for below 3 star accomodationFortunately we did enjoy our stay as no amount flaky paint can ruin good companyGet in touch if your looking for an interior painter to to bring your hotel back up to standard and I'll get it fixed up before the summer rush

Enjoyed our stay at this beautiful hotel. The room had all the amenities that we needed and so much more. The staff were courteous and went out of their way to look after us and took care of every detail. Will be back, thank you.

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful 4 nights at the Paihia Beach Resort & Spa. Our reservation had to be altered a few times due to flights being cancelled from Auckland due to Cyclone Gabrielle and the situation was handled very professionally in spite of loss of internet. When we finally arrived, we were very happy with our room which had all the amenities needed for a relaxing vacation. The view was lovely and the location was perfect. I enjoyed both a massage and facial at the Spa and would highly recommend it. A special thank you to Sam and Vikram who went above and beyond in arranging postal delivery to Canada for some items that we left behind in our room.

Our stay at this hotel was disappointing and not the relaxing experience we had expected for.We spent one night in a spa studio on the top floor with beautiful views from the balcony and two nights in a Superior Suite (separate bedroom with kitchen/living/dining space). The rooms are tired and not very clean (cobwebs and dead bugs in both rooms). The superior suite was moldy and again the same issue as others have stated in previous reviews were water would run out of the bath/shower and soak the floor due to the poor design.Entry to the hotel is a disgrace and near impossible due to a dispute with a private landowner. We ended up damaging our car due to the tight space and a single black metal pole being placed in the driveway as part of a dilapidated divider fence the private landowner has constructed. The hotel staff were very apologetic but obviously could not do much about it.I understand this is not ideal for the hotel but I do think this is a huge inconvenience for guests and the hotel should take more responsibility to rectify this issue and have a better solution in place. We really enjoyed the pool and heated spa pools but would say that was probably the best thing about our stay. The staff were friendly and professional but I would not say this is a 5-star hotel.

Three stars because it over promises and under delivers. It could be so lovely … great position, nice facilities, and the Spa is indeed excellent (separately reviewed). But there is no way this place is 5 star. The rooms are tired and in desperate need of maintenance, woodwork water damaged, moth eaten carpet patches, windows stuck shut. The public areas not regularly cleaned (mess on the stairwell took 3 days to be vacuumed). Restaurant is pretty good, but not 5 star either. The staff told us that a refurb is planned for July this year, not before time. Not sure we would stay again - but we would visit the spa.
