Cowdy Real Estate

Unfortunately my partner and I had a bad experience with Cowdy which was a shame because we loved the house we were meant to move into. We felt that they were not open about the rental increase and had lots of opportunities to inform us before we signed our contract having paid around 2k in bond. We were informed the rental increase would go way over our budget and decided we would pull out, unfortunately 2 days prior we had signed the contract even though this part was still to be decided yet the property manager still advised us to sign it (probably because she knew we may want to pull out and they would lose money.) We had to pay 2 weeks rent to get out of the contract when we had only signed 1 business day previously (and rental agreement was still up in the air.) Overall very disappointing experience and has put us off going through an agency again. This company has little morals and only cares about making money rather than being open and honest with clients.

Terrible end to a 3+ year rental agreement.Upon vacating they held my bond ransom and during mediation property manager, Catherine Flanagan tried to blackmail me with additional costs ($600+ on top of my $1000+ bond) and tribunal if I was not to agree to their terms that very day.Thank goodness the tribunal understood and saw sense. I got a good chunk of my bond back and all the other claims they tried to get me to pay were thrown out the window, and rightfully so.Will never rent with cowdy again and advise against using their services. Shocking.

WORST property management I ever had! Trying to charge for professional carpet cleaning even though it is NOT LEGALLY REQUIRED when there is no damage/stain/mark on the carpet during my tenancy. I had already asked an advice from Tenancy Services regarding it, and they sent me a link that clearly stated 'TENANTS DO NOT HAVE TO HAVE PROFESSIONAL CARPET CLEANING AT THE END OF TENANCY'. I have had a lot of property managers before but NO ONE requested, forced me to do this damn professional carpet cleaning ever! Now I am going to bring this matter to tribunal as per Tenancy Services. DO NOT CONSIDER THIS SCAM PROPERTY MANAGEMENT IF YOU DON'T WANT TO GET CHARGED WHAT YOU SHOULDN'T! Insane!!!

There are a lot of things to this story but I will try and keep it short and concise.They rented out what they knew full well was a substandard property (their excuse is that the tenants accepted it in that condition). They categorically refused to rectify multiple critical health and safety issues that had already caused harm to their tenants. Then upon moving out they held the bond to ransom and falsely accused tenants of deliberately damaging the property. All of this of course is documented in photos and emails. I have included some photos with this review however I have refrained from posting the emails to protect the identity of the individual property manager involved.All in all I am glad this saga is over, though I wish there was better recourse against property managers who so brazenly breach the law. Going to a tribunal is a lot of hassle not many tenants can be bothered with. Best case scenario, they make a lot of armature mistakes. Worst case scenario, they deliberately try to scam people. So whether you are a tenant ore a client of theirs, my advice is to tread carefully.

We have been renting under Cowdy and Co for 9 months and it has been great, our property manager is friendly and always quick to get in contact or resolve any issues. One of the best and friendliest experiences we've had with property managers and it's nice to be looked after by a local company.

Stay away from Cowdy. They are just looking for money. We left it in perfect condition but were still hassled about tiny details that were there before we even arrived at the property! We had 6 other people clean it thoroughly, even the carpet cleaners said it was very tidy and was easy for them to clean. What about the last tenants? You weren't thorough with them? Leaving us with the last tenants filth then telling us to clean it up. We ended up having to break our lease, but luckily they found new tenants for us. Thought this would be a cheap outcome but ended up paying a $300 breakage fee. I'd advise against anyone looking to rent with Cowdy. All they care about is leeching you for all your money.

We have leased the same house under Cowdy & Co since Sept 2010. Inspections are always every 4 months and thorough. Most repairs pointed out have been done within a week. Our Property Manager Catherine, gives good tips for prolonging the life of the house. After reading some of the other reviews, I feel we have struck it pretty lucky with the care we as tenants and also the owners of the property have received over the last 7 years. The only thing i dont like is paying a reduced let fee every year when we re-sign our lease but i understand why its required.

Be aware of this property manager, especially the owner of the Business. I broke lease for a new career prospect, found a new tenant within that week, caused me so much stress relocating to another town lost all bond to reassignment of lease and pathetic issues. I had been a very tidy and clean tennant even got a cleaner after I moved out as was working. Stay clear of this agency. Her manner is very rude and disrespectful.

I had best experience with Ruby Shaw. She goes above and beyond to help clients find the best suitable property. Good communication and awesome personality. She should get some reward for her work.Thank you Cowdy you been awesome.
