Cowshed Bay Camping Area
Awesome place to stay , usual DOC fees, but so peaceful , waking to the sound of native birds and even a cheeky Weka, came for a visit, although it's the beginning of winter, it's still a very nice place to stay, clean hot shower , cooking and toilet facilities, Can't fault this spot. Aeesome!!

I loved it met some great people and the camp host was friendly and keep the amenities clean it was a great place to head out from for kayaking and fishing.

A good choice of basic tent sites most ground was level they cooking shelter if basic but clean and tidy with a good stainless steel bench along wall + 1 sink

Awesome Doc camp right by the sea. A boat and a fishing rod is all you need. Toilets clean and hosts are great.

Good camping spot, excellent toilets and kitchen prep area. Wee walk down to waters edge but DOC are doing a great job of maintenance and presentation here.

Nice place to stay for a night or two. Loved swimming and camping here, just wish that people would keep the toilets cleaner... and some big campervans (that could literally park anywhere else in this camping area) where taking up spaces that would have fit at least two or three tents of hikers that were doing the Queen Charlotte Track.If you have a kayak this is an ideal place to come to!

Cowshed Bay Camping Area
Very quiet in winter, it was us and one other camper. 10 m to the beach, sun all day, nice toilets. $15 per person per night is a bit expensive considering there is no fresh water or showers. In summertime they have a camp host and it was a bit noisy with a generator running.Close to get on the Queen Charlotte track.

The freedom camping areas close by are good but usually full so this is a good fall-back. Good toilets and shelter, ample space, nice peaceful environment surrounded by woodland by the sounds.
