An absolutely brilliant experience. The views are out of this world, the birds are fascinating, the tour guide was knowledgeable and interesting. Would recommend to anyone.

Second time I've been and hopefully it's not the last. It's a great place to watch (and learn about) these birds in their natural habitat. Can only get here as part of a local tour (to protect the colony and local environment)

Walked from Clifton at low tide and took 75 minutes to the gannets. Met a dozen bikers and 3 noisy ATV's on my way, but no other hikers. There is a gate at the Clifton Motor camp that requires a dollar coin to get through. Not overly impressed overall so don't believe all the commercial hype. Save your money and watch Planet Earth instead. For years I have heard how great it was supposed to be and that it is one of 2 must see" things in Hawkes Bay but was disappointed. It pales in comparison to say Te Mata or the Catlin's down south."

One of my favourite place in North Island to watch sunset and the Gannets make this place much more beautiful. Perfect creation.

a very nice place to visit. we were here in 2007, its very special. i loved it. The gannet colony at the stunning Cape Kidnappers / Te Kauwae-a-Māui certainly falls into the latter category. you can take a look here in many ways, walk or with a tractor or just like so many do with a mini van. These garrulous seabirds normally nest on islands, but since the 1870s, they have been called a spot at the towering cliffs home" - from September to late April

Nice experience to have when visiting Hawke’s Bay. The tour takes about 3 hours in total, 45 minutes to get to the colony and another 45 to return. During the way over there, a tour guide presents facts about the history of the reserve. The views from Cape Kidnappers are outstanding.
