The Cairns Golf Course - Lake Tekapo

Fairways were obvious however the first cut was challenging and the second cut you may as well give it up as lost.The greens were inconsistent and needed plenty of work. It really needs a full-time greens person. All in all, I found more balls than I lost. Highly recommend that you play with cheap or second hand balls on this course. Losing balls is not to be considered as bad playing, just a difficult outlying boundaries with too many rabbit holes not to mention water hazards. I would liken it to a links course.

Well it was a real experience !! Trying to find it was an experience in itself and a bit more signage on the course to direct you to the next hole would be great. We paid for 18 holes but 9 holes was enough and the beers at the finish with the million dollar views made it worth the effort

5 stars if only for the challenge - intense winds, lots of water, sprinkler holes in the greens (!?!?) but amazing scenery!

WOW! What a magical and comforting accommodation in the heart of Tekapo! As the owner of an eco-friendly travel agency, and avid traveler myself-I highly recommend The Cairns! We worked with Lisa to plan the perfect stay for two of our travelers and their 1 year old baby. Caroline and Josh spent two weeks in New Zealand and said that The Cairns was a welcoming and refreshing retreat in between all of their glamping accommodations. The views were beautiful, they loved the updated and fresh accommodation, and it was baby friendly! They LOVED meeting the farm animals and walking the property. Lisa was so wonderful for us to work with and we knew our friends were in wonderful hands! Thank you so much Lisa for such a wonderful stay for Caroline, Josh, and baby Owen! We can't wait to send our other travelers to you int he future.

5/5, not because it's a tournament level course but because of the experience.Tricky layout and good greens. The rest is up to you.See the views on an early winters day.(Oh, and my second ball on the 3rd did carry the water)The tee boxes could do with some love.

Been to Tekapo 7 times but only played here once. I wish I had played sooner. 9 holes is just right. Wasn’t crowded which was a plus. The fairways were great even though it rained hard the night before. It views were better than anything I have seen Australia

Super friendly and helpful ladies running the place set us up for another great memory of the golfing road trip for my sons and I. Any golf course that can survive in the weather down there (we had a cloudless summer day though) is always going to be a bit rough but that's part of the adventure. Some really challenging and tempting holes over water were a great laugh. Thank you The Cairns

Awesome course, beautiful scenery, interesting layout and the greens amazing considering the Paradise ducks and rabbits!!Can't wait to go back and play again!
