Stayed the weekend in the Mount, we went to Special mention cafe twice. Excellent coffee and food. Service was exceptional thank you we will be back!

This place is so cute and I’d been wanting to visit for a while! They had a nice menu and some tasty looking cabinet food, we had the brownie and the cobbler, both were delicious but the cobbler would’ve been nice with some berry sauce or something to combat the sweet mellow flavour. The juice and the oat flat white were great but I really wanted to try out their filter coffee. I checked before I went on the day that they did filter everyday and was told yes but when I came in they had none made up and their barista was on trial so she couldn’t make it and none of the other staff had coffee knowledge. This was no problem as I was more then happy to try the other drinks but was just a tad disappointed as it was advertised as being available everyday. Overall still a good experience and would definitely come back again!! Plus cute table fruits instead of table numbers

Let’s say you’re looking for the perfect brunch spot in all of the Bay of Plenty. Just paint that picture for yourself. I’m glad you’re reading this, because that means you’ve found it. In other words, look no further than Special Mention for great service, coffee & potentially the best chicken sandwich you’ll ever try. Enjoy!

Nice neighborhood cafe, only coffee today but their all day brunch looks great so I'll be back to try some of those choices too (5 stars for food so far on menu, will update when I've tasted)!

Stopped in here for breakfast after reading the amazing reviews. Great coffee, friendly service and tasty food. I had the scrambled eggs and ham toastie - was delicious!

Friday night dinner - shared various dishes between us. Small but great selection of fabulous dishes on the menu. Friendly owner and staff. will definitely return!
