Whataroa Service Station

Had a significant suspension failure on the road to Okarito on the West Coast. Had to contact the AA to arrange a vehicle recovery to the nearest garage which was the Whataroa Service Station. Ian arrived within the hour and all this happened on a Sunday afternoon. He arranged replacement parts first thing Monday and kept me informed with progress on the rebuild. Excellent service from start to finish and would have no hesitation in recommending him should the need arise.

When I was stuck in Franz Josef with a flat battery....they drove all the way down from Whataroa to help me out. The mechanic (Pablo) was very good, very professional and yet very friendly and reassuring. I really can't thank them enough.

Excellent family-run mechanics. They went above and beyond to get us out of a bind after breaking down in the middle of nowhere.Ian immediately knew what the issue was (transmission leak), arranged a tow and worked through lunch to get it fixed so we could continue our journey ASAP.We were in the middle of nowhere with very limited signal, but Ian sent us texts with updates on the tow.Highly recommended!

I have used the Whataroa Service Station many times and have never had an issue. Ian, Laurie & Pablo bend over backwards to fit in all appointments as well as dealing with people off the streets. I highly recommend this service station to anyone.

In regards to the service provided, they were excellent. Nothing to say, except thank you. However, the location of the incident was literally 500m away from their garage so charging me 300$ for a 30min job felt like a rip off. When asked why, the person in charge told me two people had to get involved, but that was only because a tool was missing, which is not my fault. I conclude that they excessively capitalised on the vulnerable situation I found myself in, which is not ethical. I was surprised by how people can be friendly, to then fraudulently overcharge.

Worst service ever. Never recommend. Rung up to see if they had parts in stock. Got told that they do have the parts. Drove 50 minute round trip and they didn't have and the old lady who works there thats well past retired( dementia I suspect) throught it was funny and told me I can always go to greymouth. Will never stop there again. Will tell everyone I no about the service and how arrogant they are. Will also never buy petrol or service any of my tractors there.Unfortunately have to choose 1 star to post this. Minus 10 out of 10.

Very Professional, Honest, Calm and Friendly. Plus the Logistic is really on time.“We had a breakdown for 2nd time after our car was service and rescued by a Mechanic in Fox Glacier”. Same issue when we had our first breakdown 20 kms. from south of Fox Glacier.This mechanic will give you the beat option and very honest plus very reasonable for a service fee.
