We stopped by this town when we went to Coromandel. We didn't know where we could find cheap food, so we decided to buy some fish & chips here. Surprisingly, the food was great (maybe we were too hungry).

Cute place to get food. Many things on the menu are inexpensive but they are fairly small portions. The food was very greasy since everything is fried. We tried their fried fish (2 orders) with onion rings(1 order) and potato fritters (1 order) -- seen in the picture.

Fish n chips was great. Batter was light and crispy and portion just right. Would've given you 5 stars but unfortunately found a bone in one of the hoki fish. Hamburgers were pretty good aswell.

waited 1 hour after being told it was a half hour wait if we ordered, worst fish and chips ive ever had at the most money ive ever paid , the chips were not edible , i hate hoki so ordered dori , ended up with hoki , absolute rubbish , also the staff just dont give a dam , do yourself a favour and avoid at all costs

Asked for a cheeseburger, it came made with coleslaw not lettuce. Coleslaw had no dressing so really just sliced cabbage and grated carrot.No tomato but a slice of beetroot. I was underwhelmed. Tarakihi appeared fried at too lower temperature. Oil soaked out through the bag and batter was soggy by the time I’d driven 200m down the road.

We had a recent and very positive experience with Surf'n'Sand Takeaways. Big school group order of hot chips. Were so accommodating, easy to pre order and arrange. Very tasty chips. Also got ice creams for group. Again accommodating and getting students to order worked very smoothly. Highly recommend and will be back to try more of the menu. All friendly staff and very clean and tidy takeaways. Thanks guys!!

Surf n Sand is a take a way what is located central and you can park direct in front of the store. The service was very friendly and the food was prepared fast. The taste was great and the price was fully ok.I can recommend this place if you look far a take a way food you will love it.

Friendly enough service, but much of the food was hopelessly overcooked and unpleasant to eat. Like crunching on stale biscuits. Unlikely to return.
