Good hike for all levels , 1.5 hour one way, bit wind but worth to try.

If you don't want to attack Mount Herbert from Diamond Harbour side then this is a great alternative, shorter and much sharper inclines in parts over private covenanted land. Once on the ridge line the Monument North track branches off as you head to Mount Herbert or you can go south to Port Levy saddle and Rod Donald hut. If you want a real challenge (4 hour hike/jog) you can head to Mount Bradley from Herbert, down past Packhorse hut and drop into the Kaituna Valley again and walk/run down the road back to this car park at the end of the road.
