Awa Awa Reserve
Great base for a series of walks ranging from 30 mins to 7 hours return. There are also multiple loops, so you can see how far you can make it. Lots of space for parking and lunch, and toilets are on site.

Awa Awa Reserve
Scott's Saddle is an amazing walk. The first 40 minutes is tough. But the rest is easy and amazing. We started the walk at 6.30pm and finished at 9.30pm. A very rewarding yet fairly short walk.

Scott's Saddle Track is pretty cool, goes a fair way up Mount Hutt. In the Bush for a while then comes out to views over the plains. Worth doing in the snow as well.

Free to access and well kept grounds as well. The trip out from Christchurch is not bad and the roads are well kept.Water, washrooms and sun shade is available in the maim area and the trails are quite wonderful.All of a sudden you are walking in a rainforest! I will definitely be bringing my family back.

Awa Awa Reserve
Plenty of different route and loops to take. From the car park I started up Scotts Track - this was quite muddy, narrow and slippy in places, so good footwear is recommended. I then diverted off to the ridge track, which was much easier going. I went down to Pudding Hill stream, 10 minutes down, 15 back up. Then I followed Alder track back to the car park. 5.5km, 360m elevation gain.

Surprising gem!! Reasonably well kept walkway through a mix of old growth broadleaf and beech plus a stand of exotic Larch
