North Egmont Retreat

We arrived late but the owners were very helpful in assisting us and providing extras that we might need to enjoy our barbecue. Fairly basic but clean facilities and nice views with the cows and pigs too.

This is the perfect base for exploring Mount Taranaki. The grounds are beautifully kept, the facilities are clean and functional. Greg is a very welcoming host and weather permitting the views of the mountain are stunning. Go for it!

A delightful campsite in the Taranaki foothills. Excellent views and a delightful owner. He took us to view some of his prized livestock and was very generous. He sells meat at the New Plymouth farmers market on a Sunday so we are looking forward to trying the meat we bought today. Piglets are reared organically on his farm and you’ll see them running around and exploring.The facilities are basic but are clean and work surprisingly well.We first viewed the campsite further up the road but were very underwhelmed so glad we turned around and stayed with Greg on his dairy farm with a spectacular view.

Amazing place. The owner is very kind, accomodating and funny, good chats. The temporary facilities are everything you need and more, kept very clean and tidy. We stayed 2 nights. Would 10/10 recommend and would 100% come back in the future!

What a hidden gem! Honestly I can't say enough good about this place...the views, tranquility and farm vibe! Excellent hosts, Greg is such a nice guy and speaking with him I felt we'd known each other for a long time. Can't recommend this place enough! Make sure you stay if you're in the area.

Hidden treasure! super friendly and helpful owners super quiet, close to everywhere. super dark sky at the tip of your nose, a huge advantage for bringing your telescope.

I came here with a couple of friends for the long weekend. Definitely made unforgettable memories over here. The views and animals ... the air itself was something different (in a good way). The ownner (Greg) is a very welcoming person. I Definitely will be coming back again. I also highly recommend this place.❤️

Fantastic camp site at the foothills of Mt Taranaki. One shower and one toilet, that are kept clean.Beautifully kept grounds, and you are welcome to visit the pigs. Albert the boar is worth the price of admission.The views from here on a clear day are exquisitely sublime.Thanks for letting us stay there mate.
