Sandspit Holiday Park

I would definitely recommend this place if you want a quiet get away with great views within close driving distance to restaurants/supermarket and cafes at Warkworth, Snells and Matakana. Our waterfront cabin was clean with comfortable beds, bedding and linen. The tide is not always in but you can drive 5 mins to another beach where you will pay double the price to be on the waterfront. The history of this site, great walking trails and being slightly off the beaten track was a huge positive for us. The advantage of being a smaller holiday park means less noise and people to share the facilities with. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Friendly staff, to help us check in and find our way around. Nice and quiet location. Good price would've loved to have had more time to stay.

Good campsite. Showers difficult to operate. Swimming poor, only possible near high tide and even then very shallow. Pitches a bit tight. Nice walk along cliffs. Met our needs at end of holiday only 100 mins from airport.

Cabins are tired and dirty with very old beds and poor quality linen. We slept so badly that we left our holiday early. Not worth the price!Staff were friendly and helpful when available but we're rarely in the office to help. Amenities block was new but not kept clean The camp smelled from overflowing rubbish bins. Would not recommend.

We just stayed two days.I don’t know where the start.We booked a small cabin. We arrived. The cabin was very dirty. The sheets were dirty (luckily we brought sleeping bags and pillows - didn’t have to bother getting them changed). There were food scraps on the floor. The park is pretty run down.My sister also stayed in a campervan. We were in the area for a wedding. When we returned last night after the wedding and her site was full. They sold HER site that she had paid for while we were at the wedding. So I’m the middle of the night they didn’t have anywhere to go. The manager came down and suggested it was their fault because they didn’t let them know that they’d be coming back (didn’t know we had to let them know what our holiday plans were). Just unbelievable. So they collected double money for the same night twice. Still haven’t sorted a refund.The woman in reception was lovely, her friendly nature is about the only up about this place.

Walked through only, because it was my childhood holiday camping ground. The atmosphere was lovely. Campers friendly. Felt like it did when we used to stay. Facilities looked good.

Parked our Campervan 1 metre from the edge of the Bay, the moon shining across in a silver path, stunning!Quiet, relaxed atmosphere with excellent, clean facilities.Will stay for longer next time.

Nice grounds wright on the edge of the bay. Modern bathrooms and showers but could of been cleaned better or more regularly. Showers were hot with good pressure but timer was a pain as when I hoped in it took a while for the hot water to get there then timer stopped while I was applying shampoo. Had to swap shower because you can't just reset the timer. The little kayaks and life jackets were good for the kids. We stayed in our caravan.

A great retreat within an hour drive of Auckland. You can make a combo of staying at the Sandspit and enjoying ferry to historic mansion. You would definitely remember the tranquility and stunning beauty of this area. All stars for the friendly staff and very kind locals.
