About the Business
COAST ACADEMY BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU | Coast BJJ is a family friendly club teaching martial arts to children from age 6 through to adults. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a practical martial art, with proven self-discipline and self-defence systems. BJJ promotes the concept that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend against a stronger opponent with the use of specific techniques, leverage, joint-locks and chokeholds.

Absolutely incredible environment - wonderful coaches who know what they're talking about. Excellent styles of teaching. When I first showed up I didn't know what to expect but from the very first day everyone was welcoming and offered nothing but encouragement to me. Coast Academy, the coaches and their students are the reason I've fallen in love with BJJ, MMA and Kickboxing - superb community.

This club is excellent! Matt and his team really do make a fun, exciting, and friendly environment for people to learn and grow.Jiu Jitsu is life changing! It will leave you feeling stronger, more confident and fitter.Don't be worried about injuries, sure accidents can happen, but for the most part its safe because its always done in a controlled manner.Join Coast BJJ and see the difference in yourself :)

I've been training martial arts for about 15 years, and this is one of the best gyms I've ever trained at. Small enough that you get lots of attention from the instructors, large enough that you have lots of different people to train with and learn from.Coast Academy has a great family atmosphere. Everyone is friendly and considerate in their rolling. Also the mats are very thick, on top of a wooden sprung floor, meaning they're the most forgiving mats I've trained on. This really helps for take downs and throws.Highly recommended!

Coast Academy are amazing, I took my son who is neurodiverse for a one on one training session with Jaden O'Dea. I was blown away by how Jaden instantly picked up on where my son was at and then proceeded to train him at a level that suited him. Well done Coast and Jaden, so happy to have found a great Trainer and Gym, will be coming back for sure.
