Lake Rotopounamu track
1st 10mins is uphill but the rest is easy. I am not fit and absolutely loved this track. Didnt seem like 6.4kms because the forest and lake views are such beautiful distraction.Beaut place to take family for picnic in Summer as there are lots of beachy areas to get to the water.Dont forget your camera!

Lake Rotopounamu track
2 hour walk at a slow pace, took me 90 mins at a medium pace with a few stops. Good easy track though lots of foliage so might be a bit slippery after heavy rain. Peaceful walk that’s mostly covered with moments on the lakeside ‘beach’ . Think I saw some Grey ducks or grey/mallard cross. A great walk for families!

Good two hours in the bush walk around the lake, there are a few entrances to the beach by the lake if you want to stop and read a book. Very peaceful.

This is such a wee hidden gem! Hike is very easy, don't pack too much though otherwise it will become difficult. Would be nice to camp here. Lake is very safe and so nice and warm! Many little spots upi can stop off so is all very private. 20/20

So quiet and easy walk. Nice escape from busy city with lots of native mature forest trees. It is also good for bird watching

Lake Rotopounamu track
Very nice, off the track place to explore. It's well worth the 2 hours to walk to this lake in the ancient forest. If you want to enjoy the forest it will take you longer. Most of the track is under the canopy of mature Matai and native trees. The two beaches are nice sand good enough for a picnic and bathe in the crystal clear water. It is a cool walk due to the altitude and closeness to Tongariro. Not suitable for anything on wheels. Park on the highway and walk up 20 minutes to the circuit around the lake. Must do.

It wasn't a sunny day but we still enjoyed this little walk around the lake anyway, it is beautiful and lots to learn on the way! Must be great for kids. A carpark is on the other side of the road and a bit shot if you have long motorhome, we could barely fit being 7 metres long.

Lake Rotopounamu track
Relatively easy trail walk. There's a carpark next to the start of the trail. Bring your swimwear if you wana go dip in the lake. There's 3 beaches and the water temperature is warm enough to comfortably go in the summer. Only take abt 2hrs to complete the whole circuit including rest time.

Lake Rotopounamu track
This was an easy hike for New Zealand and track is well maintained. We appreciated the signs identifying trees/plants. There is a restroom at the halfway point. It was a beautiful walk and we heard a lot of birds and it was so peaceful.
