Fabulous gem in Franz! The food was delicious. The portions were very generous and the staff worked together so well to make sure all tables are taken care of! An no reso needed here. First come, first serve. Would highly recommend.

Oh my gosh, what a great place! The beef cheeks were sensational and the chicken with the mushroom sauce was delicious. We were still talking about the food the next day! The history was fascinating and the decor that went along with it made it a really unique dining experience. Can’t wait to come back next time we’re in Franz Josef!

Seating outside offers views of the glacier and people taking pictures of said glacier in the middle of the street. The food was delicious with huge portions. The fish from the fish and chips was massive. The shrimp spaghetti was very tasty as well. Throw in a cold drink and you're good to go. While you wait you can read about Alice May. Recommended.

Must try in Franz Josef! We ordered lamb shank, chicken breast and seafood chowder. All tasted great, especially the lamb shank. Tenderness is just nice. Even the side vegetables on the plates tasted delicious. Service staff were polite and cheerful. We were a little early for dinner so the place was empty but people started to come in after 6pm. We are glad we tried this on our last night here!

Great atmosphere with seating inside and outside. Garlic bread was yummy, prawn pasta though very mildly flavoured made a wholesome meal after travelling the entire day. Good wine selection.

Nice cosy restaurant tucked away from the main street in Franz Josef. We ordered the garlic bread, chicken salad, lamb and beef cheek. The lamb was the highlight but all meals were amazing. The service was exceptional and short wait times. We came at 5pm before it got busy and there were many tables available.

We recently visited Alice May in Franz Josef and had a good experience. The food was delicious and the ambience was cozy and inviting. If you sit outdoors, you can enjoy the stunning mountain view.Unfortunately, the restaurant seemed to be a bit short-staffed during our visit, which resulted in a longer wait for our food. However, the staff were all very pleasant and attentive.Overall, we would recommend Alice May for a nice meal and a comfortable atmosphere. The mountain view is a nice added bonus!

Average at best. Service very mixed. You don’t get shown to a table - just find a table and someone will come is almost shouted at you on arrival.When I did that, at the beginning I the server was very attentive, sadly she seemed to be moved or disappear midway through my meal!The food was ok. Arancini mediocre. The prawn pasta was not at all what I expected, more like pasta noodles and soup than my understanding of a pasta sauce.Clearly capitalising on the limited options over the busy Easter weekend.My advice would be go somewhere else.

Visited for dinner and ordered the braised lamb shank. Yummy!Although, I do wish the service staff were able to share what the seasonal vegetables were for that dish. As, I would have liked to ask if I could do a substitution due to my dietary restrictions to avoid food waste.

Delicious food and great service! I ordered the vegan curry, fettuccine and fish and chips. The vegan curry was one of the best I have ever had. The atmosphere and history of this restaurant makes the whole experience more wonderful.
