I highly recommend this clinic. Dr Hoosen has 30 years' experience and gives great advice. The consultations are patient led and there is no pressure at all. He even provides his email address in case you need medical advice while travelling. All staff are really lovely, understanding and validate your concerns. I was so impressed with the experience.

Very surprised that people have given this clinic 5 star reviews, but upon a second look many of these 5-star-ers have only posted one review historically - so take their authenticity with a grain of salt.Aside from the condescension (which tbh isn't a big deal because it says more about the class of the person), Dr Hoosan gave me the impression that he didn't care about me but cared a lot about the money he was getting. From some of the other reviews, it's clearly a pattern. It's not terrible service but was a little lacking professionalism-wise. I will say though, to their credit, the high prices you pay go towards speedy communication outside the appointment, so this service may be for you if you have urgent travel plans.//Edit: re aforementioned professionalism, disappointed to see the team (I'm hoping it's not the doctor himself) spends more time savaging and humiliating each negative review and disclosing a disconcerting amount of patient confidentiality than taking on feedback for patient care.An American article on The Verge titled 'Writing Google reviews about patients is actually a HIPAA violation' gives quite an enlightening discussion on the inappropriateness of including details about patients' health in response to negative reviews: In this case

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! We came to DR Hoosen for our pre departure covid tests. When singapore implemented a 48 hr test requirement days before we were due to depart, Iram contacted us almost immediately and arranged a new appointment to suit our itinerary. Dr Hoosen then went to great lengths to try and get our tests back on time, and they came through super promptly and well in time for our flight. If you're as stressed as I was about the pre departure, the travel clinic is your best bet for the smoothest possible experience. Excellent service throughout!

Dr Anwar guided us through a complex process in a supportive and professional manner. We knew we were in a safe pair of hands throughout and he turned the results around much faster than we anticipated. I highly recommend him.

The clinic is tidy, clean, and from our perspective appears to follow the COVID-19 Protection Framework. Check-in/reception staff are welcoming, friendly, and efficient. With New Zealand reopening its borders from April, the reason for this review is to CAUTION future travellers or tourists… if possible, AVOID the Travel Clinic North Shore. If you’re intrigued, then please see our personal experience below. We needed a supervised pre-departure Rapid Antigen Test for COVID-19 to be taken 24-hours prior departure. A week prior to our departure, we must have called nearly every pharmacy in Auckland, all refused to do a supervised test for international flights. We even had NZ government approved testing kits on our persons. Several places pointed us to either Travel Clinic North Shore or RakoScience. Albeit, this is not the fault of the Travel Clinic North Shore. But, we felt like we had no choice but to go with the Travel Clinic North Shore, as it was the ‘cheapest’ option available. For us, a “Fit to Fly Clearance Certificate” (NZ$225) AND an added NZ$25 Friday/Saturday appointment surcharge is NOT cheap!Firstly… appointment scheduling. Iram had initially scheduled an early morning appointment for us. This did not fit with our travel schedule, so Iram kindly managed to book us an afternoon appointment. On arrival, the check-in/reception staff had no record of this afternoon appointment and were expecting us for the morning appointment. Once in the examination room, we were told by Dr Anwar Hoosen to wait until the examinations were complete before asking any questions. Upon completion, I politely asked Dr Hoosen if the clinical assessment and examinations for a “Fit to Fly Clearance Certificate” is really necessary for a flight to Australia, when a signed supervised Rapid Antigen Test (with a negative result) is all that is needed by the Australian border control.Dr Hoosen proceeded to go off on a completely unnecessary tangent about how he’s been a doctor for 40+ years and has been working throughout the pandemic. His defences instantly went up and he dropped ridiculous, and quite frankly unprofessional, phrases like ‘I didn’t force you to come here’, ‘this is a nice breezy office with views, you could have gone to a GP surrounded by sick people and have got some nurse to sign a piece of paper’, and ‘you can choose to stay in a 1 star hotel or a 5 star hotel, you get what you pay for’. I could NOT get a single word in edge ways and I felt like Dr Hoosen was making out that I was questioning his skills, expertise, and competency as a doctor - I was not. While I appreciate the whole process being streamlined, Dr Hoosen was most definitely rushed, stressed, and on the defensive. All in all, we arrived at the clinic around 11.40am (11.45am scanned in with NZ COVID tracer app). As promised on their website, we had our “Fit to Fly Clearance Certificate” (one original + photocopy) printed and in our hands no more than 50 minutes after we scanned in. I must say... It’s an excellent business model, because he examined my partner and I simultaneously and we paid NZ$500 for ~20-30 minutes face-time. BUT, the “Fit to Fly Clearance Certificate” does not have a QR code which means that it could NOT be entered into the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Travel Pass mobile app. The Travel Clinic North Shore were quick enough to email us our invoice (12.26pm, same day)… but I emailed them at 3.26pm (same day) asking for the QR code certificate, and to this day I have still not had a reply. While the “Fit to Fly Clearance Certificate” was still accepted, this caused a bit of hassle and delay at both Auckland airport and on arrival in Australia. We have already been in touch with the NZ government about the costs and our experiences with pre-departure testing. Hopefully more international pre-departure testing sites will become available because the way this has been monopolised (as of 12th March 2022), I can only say that it is only going to get more stressful for you Dr Hoosen.

I’ve been going to the Travel Clinic for the past couple years to get all my necessary vaccination shots for travelling and recently for a pre departure medical certificate.Dr. Hoosen has been absolutely brilliant every time I’ve come in and answers any questions I may have. Even while travelling you can contact him anytime during your trip if you have any concerns or questions. While I never needed to personally get in contact while overseas, it was reassuring to know I could always contact a Doctor I could trust for advice and think that’s a great service to offer. Also want to give a shout out to reception staff as they are amazing as well and I always enjoy coming in.Definitely highly recommend Travel Clinic. They got outstanding service, really easy process to book and they will cater to your needs. Thanks guys, really appreciate everything!

After getting what I thought was the complete suite of vaccinations (for travel) from my GP, I discovered that the GP could not provide a rabies booster which Dr Anwar was easily able to provide with no hassle. I should have gone to the Travel Clinic in the first instance as Dr Anwar is the specialist and it was disappointing to establish that my GP clinic was insufficient. Dr Anwar provides great explanations and advice and I would definitely recommend his services for ALL travel requirements.

I was struggling to find a clinic that conducted an urgent PCR test when I came across travel clinic via a google search. The receptionist recommended I contact the doctor directly, and when I did, Dr Hoosen was very responsive. Despite my abrupt and urgent request, he immediately emailed me a few minutes later that a slot was available. My mother went through a comfortable PCR testing procedure and informed me that Dr Hoosen was very gentle and caring. We received the test results the next day. The invoice was high, but it was worth the service we received.

Cannot recommend this team strongly enough. Dr Anwar is knowledgeable, efficient and highly supportive of all your medical needs and queries. Finn and the front office team are welcoming, and extremely well-versed in travel advice. There is also a small but perfectly formed travel store onsite for all your trip needs. 10/10.

My husband and friend, who I am traveling with, went to the travel clinic in Newmarket and had a very different experience for exactly the same kind of appointment as me. They had a far more useful and informative consultation than me. I will now have to make another appointment (elsewhere) to get the information and medication I need for my travel. While I did make an appointment for yellow fever it was because I did not know better, I did understand that the doctor would only talk about yellow fever - however he could have explained that I should make a further appointment to have a more complete consultation about the areas I will be travelling in.
