I was blessed to find my midwife Mina Nazo, after I had visited another midwife out west however, felt uncomfortable with her and the way I was treated. After doing some research, I found Midwifery Focus and Mina Nazo. I had the most wonderful experience with Mina. She made me feel so comfortable which was very important to me after my initial experience with another service. I found her to be very supportive and I felt understood and listened to with the requests/hopes I had for my pregnancy and birth. I was working full-time and found Mina very flexible around my schedule. She was on call at all hours of the day & night for advice, and responded promptly when I would contact her. This made me feel at ease and taken care of. Mina gave me a sense of security and I trusted her advice. Whenever I was worried about something (and I worry over everything even when there is no need to!), Mina would not hesitate to send me for scans or tests to reassure me. I had some complications during my birth as my baby was very big, Mina supported me through the entire process whilst holding true to my birthing wishes, and took great care of me. I gave birth during a lockdown period, which was disheartening as there was limited access to family etc. Mina went above and beyond and came to visit me whenever she could as well as text me to check in on me while I was in the hospital by myself. She kept in contact with my husband and family during this time. She was also very helpful with post natal visits, and showed a true love & care for her work and the beautiful babies that she brings into this world. Would highly recommend her! She treated me like family.

It's been a bit more than 4 years now that I had to make a choice for a midwife. I chose Amie Holt and I've had the best pregnancy with her. She's been calm, caring, understanding and overall it's really been a breeze. Thanks, my little boy is now going to be 4 very soon and I keep you in my heart since I met you.

For the first 6 months of the pregnancy, our midwife was Mina Nazo. After my wife was diagnosed with low lying placenta and marginal cord insertion, she recommended a scan at 36 week. We did some research on that and everywhere suggested doing a scan at least at 30 week or sooner (even the book printed by ministry of health suggested that). Then we went to our GP and he has referred us to a obstetrics team. They came with the recommendation of doing a scan on 30 week. When we called them to tell that, even without asking what our problem is, the moment I mentioned that we went to our GP their first response was going to GP for a second opinion is an insult to them. How is that an insult to get a second opinion about the life of the mother and child? It's a life threatening situation.Furthermore we kept asking Mina to refer a thyroxine test as my wife has got a family history of high thyroxine. Mina delayed it saying it's not necessary. Now we did a thyroxine test and it's very high. This could have been avoided/minimized if we did do the test earlier. We are very disappointed in the way they cloud their recommendations with their egos. It also shows how inexperienced they are when they don't accept their mistake even after several parties has shown them their recommendation was wrong.
