Wonderful shop. It is a museum inside. Great chat with the shop assistant. Bought a beautiful ring but wanted to buy most things! Antique mirrors, old swords, paintings, statues etc.

I love this place it's like a step back in time there's so much stuff in this place you could easily spend an hour in there and would never get round at all I did end up at purchasing a couple of things if you're down in Napier you must go.

Freezing cold shop, you need extra warm clothes on when you visit, but, I recommend that you do not have not go anywhere near this shop.You can't move around freely as it is way over stocked. Over stocked may sound great but it's nearly all rubbish. You could find so much of their products at garage sales for next to no money compared to their extremely high prices.

Great shop. Fair prices and very good service. Good selection of high quality merchandise - some repro but priced accordingly. When buying antiques anywhere the caveat emptor rule always applies, and a customer should do the research before taking the plunge.

Whales Tale Antique Gallery is an unusual place, very large fully stocked shop, almost to the point of being too cluttered, there are some very good baggangs but a lot of the stock is duplicated, Personally when looking for an antique, I am look for an original & one of a kind so when you see multiple items you tend to second guess some of the originals. If you are in town and have time to kill then it is worth a look. The shop is located in Ahuriri, Napier port of the trendy little shopping area, directly across the road from Hair 2 Go cutting bar.If this comment helps you please give thumbs up.

Full of reproduction tat at extraordinary prices. Very very few antiques. Vases marked ‘French’ have made in China label on the bottom. Horrible shabby chic abounds & given the amount of reproductions mislabeled and priced like antiques but aren’t actually.. I’d advise to stay well away.

Horrible customer service to my mum last week, we used to be regulars in this store and have spend hundreds of dollars on antique jewelry here previously. She was accused by the guy behind the counter of intending to shoplift while holding onto an item she was about to purchase. Will not be going back here if this is the treatment paying customers are getting.
