Kawatiri Historic Railway Walk
The first part of the walk is quite crap, but once you get away from the highway and to the bridge, it's pretty nice. Short but fun.The tunnel can be traversed without a light, but if you're worried, your phone should be sufficient. It's a little drippy inside the tunnel so wear a hat. The path is dry otherwise.

Great place to stop on way from to NelsonDistrict. There were a Family of 4 Weka's striding around the area when I stopped for a break.

Good stop over place. Plenty of shade there's a toilet and you can camp there amongst the ruins.

nice place to stop for lunch just by turn off to St Arnaud on the way to Westport today. Toilets. Nice big pull in for our rig to drive in and round and out.

A well worth stop if you're travelling south from Nelson. Punches above its length in terms of enjoyment with interesting sights to behold include a walk through an abandoned railway tunnel (a flashlight was handy but not necessary assuming it was daytime).

Good place for a lunch stop. The first bit of the walk is rather boring but don’t be put off, you cross an old bridge and enter the tunnel. Awesome walk through the tunnel then up some optional steps at the other end will take you on a 10min loop walk. Well worth doing

Nice place to stop for a break. The railway track was closed for safety reasons but the area is nice. There's a bit of information to read just as you stretch your legs and bathroom if you need.
