Puhoi Pub is a great stop for a bite to eat on the way up to Northland, and it regularly has a band playing in the weekend’sMy partner and I had a Cheese Bacon Burger and chips and it was a beautiful homemade patty with a big rasher of bacon and fresh lettuce and sliced tomatoes. The chips were crinkle cut and cooked to perfection.There is plenty of BBQ tables all with large market umbrellas for shade.The service was excellent and the old decor was like stepping back to the 1800sWhat I found awesome was the quests would write on a currency note from NZ or from the country they were from and pin it to the inside walls of the pub soo cool

Didn’t expect that the inside is full of character and we loved it! Simple yet tasty meals were served. Not too bad for a small lovely town! Service was good and staff were friendly. Wasn’t serving coffee that day because coffee machine was broken, not their fault though. Otherwise, a unique dining experience for us.

I hadn't been to the Puhoi Pub for decades, so I made the journey to reacquaint myself on Easter Saturday... This iconic pub and landmark is still the same inside... a must see / must visit to experience yesteryear memories and nostalgia. Supported by indoor - outdoor flow, now manicured with a concreted outdoors area, under cover area, grassed area and numerous outdoor tables and sun umbrellas. An excellent restaurant keeps up with demand. Staff are warm, friendly and open to chatting when opportunity permits. An excellent musician was singing outdoors, people dancing and everyone obviously enjoying their day here. Hugely populated with return clientele. Highly recommended!

Just ate here and have to say very disappointed considering it is usually very good with meals. I was looking forward to my chowder. For $18 there was less than half a bowl of very runny soup with a few nice mussels and a sad looking marinara mix thrown in. Should have called it a mussel soup.The pizza looks great though.

Very unique interior, a classic pub vibe with dollars on the wall and dart boards. The inside is quite small, but there's plenty of places to sit outside on the dozens of picnic tables across a multi-tiered terrace lawn. There are tables under veranda cover, and most have umbrellas too, so you'll be protected on a summer/drizzly day. The food was so tasty and filling. You get so much bang for your buck with their portions.

WARNING: Gang pub with bad overpriced food. Patched members smoking weed inside while there's kids around, staff didn't do anything. Paid $65 for the platter below, that included stale bread and $12 worth of cheap frozen food (I think some of it was sausage???). Would not recommend to families.

Excellent food and local beer. Highly recommend beef nachos (mild spice), cheeseburger, and calamari. Pizza is thin crust, tasty but I prefer doughy type. Service is tops and really worth having a beer and soaking in the history if you are not up for food

Cool as bar staff, the chef looked impressed with the food he had created and it was absolutely delicious.And yes people they have the best beer ever on tap.Cool spot for motorcycle enthusiasts too catch up. Absolutely awesome spot.
