Tangiaro Kiwi Retreat

The grounds were so beautifully maintained and the native Bush was so quiet and peaceful. The chalets had that beautiful wood smell.The reception and restaurant area was like an art gallery and the food was tasty.The spa area was modern and sturdy.A blissful weekend.... except the drive, hahaha, if you dont like narrow gravel roads then make allowances for this.

A gem. We are so fortunate to have places like this in NZ. Cabins are big and comfy. The place is peaceful. Bit difficult to get to but well worth the trip.

We enjoyed our stay Tangiaro Lodge, and felt reasonably relaxed during our stay we arrived early on new years eve and was allowed to enter our room early which was great the lodge we stayed at was a Lockwood style cabin.The bed was comfortable and the cabin was well maintained and was equipped with all the usual equipment for our stay, the water pressure was excellent…The buffet put on New Year’s Eve was amazing and we returned the next night to the restaurant because the food was so delicious.We visited the water hole along the stream which was nice , additionally we had used the guest spas and they were satisfactory.Unfortunately there were some negatives with Tangiaro Lodge, the glasses in cupboard were dirty and there was No Wifi (even after resetting it) luckily we had 4g .Our final gripe was the gravel road right outside kiwi lodge chalet 1 with the constant traffic in an out all day clearly not adhering to sign of 20kph at the entrance of the property, it was really off putting because we had the main road at the back of the cabin and gravel road at the front, we had to sit out the back to avoid the noise .We really wanted to enjoy our stay at Tangiaro Lodge but felt it somewhat fell short of our expectations. The website states“Nestled beneath beautiful Moehau Mountain on the Coromandel Peninsula, a little river trickles its way quietly through tranquil fauna. Birdsong, tinkling water and tree breezes are the only sounds to be heard”More like Birdsong, tinkling water , tree breezes and tyres on gravel are the only sounds to be heard.

Booked for a spa for 3, tub was half empty, we sat with our knees all but touching. Water did not look very clean. Had planned to have a drink and food afterwards, but they had shut the bar at 4pm and everyone that was already in there had to leave. A Friday night, not very impressed

Quite remote but that's what makes this retreat lodge what it is. This lodge has its own brewery which delivers two excellent beers on tap. There's also a great bush walk up the creek to the rock pools, takes approximately 20-25 minutes, there's some medium difficulty places to traverse so be careful but you'll enjoy the pools once there.

Dropped in as we drove north. Very quiet in middle of winter but cafe open. Staff friendly. Coffee reasonable. Great value bowl of well prepared chips. Lovely grounds. Also tried the ale brewed on site, not bad!

Fantastic spot with lovely facilities. Night spa in the bush was sensational. Staff were brilliant, we managed to blow a tyre on the gravel road. Staff organised a replacement and had it delivered back to the resort. Very much appreciated

We only ate here a couple of times. The service and food were wonderful. Best steak I've had in a long time. My husband had order squid as a starter and it was delicious! I've eaten calamari a couple times back home in Colorado at restaurants but this was superb and by far better than any I've eaten. Beautiful place and people.

Lovely place to stay! Highly recommend, get away from the rat race, plenty of lovely beaches to swim at that are kid friendly. Lovely local swimming holes. Awesome cafe on site for a morning coffee, lovely food at the restaurant, wind down with a spa pool in the evening. Well set up accomodation and excellent hosts. Oh and delicious beer made on site!

We had a wonderful stay in this absolutely beautiful place! If you are looking for a quiet place, far from tourists, with a very friendly staff and a great comfort, you have found the right place! The spa under the stars in the evening, the restaurant, the chalet, the cleanliness, the kindness and the surroundings are a paradise! You even have a small river next door, a heavenly beach a few minutes away. It's the perfect place to recharge your batteries. Thank you again to Katerina to have reserved us a great welcome!
