What a great place to spend a long weekend! Long way in and very remote but worth the drive. Camp had a port a potty while we were there. Great spot for swimming though the river was low while we were there.Kids loved it!

Great basic campsite, but keep in mind there's no running water, aside for the river, which is safe to drink if boiled, no electricity, and no cell phone reception for an hour to the camp site.

As usual the place was Peaceful and Serene. The Whitikau Stream meets the Takaputahi River. Trickling water, serenades you. Kiwis, Morepork by night, and many birds singing by day. I love the place.
