Lakefront Café
Came here for some late afternoon food and tried their Kumera and Orange soup. The staff was friendly and recommended their Apple Pie tea which was so yum. We came back the next day for breakfast and I tried their $12 Smoked Salmon & cream cheese loaded toast which was delicious. It is next to a playground too so my kids could wander over to play.

Best coffee we've had since arriving in nz. We're both coffee snobs from Melbourne and made this out go to place while in Te Anau and after trying all the other places in town.The view from the cafe is great as long as there isn't a bus parked out front.

Had some lovely coffee and a beautifully made Eggs Benedict.The cafe has a wonderful black and wood industrial look whilst still being very comfortable.The staff where all lovely and though very busy still friendly under pressure.Thank you for having us!

What a fabulous experience!The food was divine and the cabinet options are upper-level.The coffee is simply superb.The cafe is large and roomy and you can hear yourself think!And the staff are super friendly and helpful.Recommended!

1. Location - the best! The Cafe is in front of the Te Anau Lake. A perfect perspective for the lake. There is a street but there is no other option.2. Interior design - wood, wood, wood. Perfect. Big windows. Nice shop with the NZ products.3. Cafe - Flatwhite was very good. The taste of coffee was very roasted.4. Food - simple. Looked tasty I didn’t try it. Looked fresh.

This was the best coffee I had on my NZ trip - I wish Australia made long blacks the same way these guys do! We stopped here twice - once for a coffee and once for breakfast. Staff are really friendly, the loaded toast was great for a small, quick breakfast, and the price was reasonable. The almond croissant we had was a bit stale but other than that, can't fault it.

From what I can see this cafe/restaurant is trying to pick things up a bit before they properly launch their dinner service which is why their menu is currently incredibly limited (burgers and fries only, with a side of potatoes).We were disappointed with our experience, but acknowledge that this is obviously a learning curve for the inexperienced team. One chef preparing one burger at a time through the open kitchen meant there was an incredibly long wait for any food to arrive on a very quiet night (50 mins) which wasn't acknowledged with us when we ordered.I don't feel the price of the food was justified.It would be worth noting to the chef that without any music/chatter in the dining area, the voices in the kitchen carry. The conversations we heard clearly didn't give us a lot of confidence in our meals - and also made us feel like we were waiting unnecessarily long to get food. Food was sent back under cooked from the other table, and we were able to hear the chef and team discussing that.The customer service from the wait staff was wonderful, and the location and view is great, so I hope with some adjustments and more learning this could be a great venue.

The cafe is in a nice location across the lake which is why we chose it for lunch. However we were very disappointed with the food. The loaded toast $12 was one tiny slice of bread with some salmon on it, there is not much else to choose from.
