Blue Nile Ethiopian Restaurant
Totally disappointing... Didn't have most of the drinks on the menu. The waitress went out to New World to get juice. Meanwhile the sub waitress had no idea" about anything on the menu (by her own admission

We had our wedding celebration lunch here and it was amazing!Hard to find a place where vegan, vegetarian and omni people can eat together, and Blue Nile was just the place. They also gave us some amazing freshly roasted coffee, which everyone loved.Thank you for making the moment so special for us.

A Gem in the heart of Wellington. I had never tasted Ethiopian food before discovering blue Nile and I have been amazed by all the dishes they offer, from mild to spicy, even if you are vegeterian. This is a nice place to go for a romantic dinner with your partner around a small table on the upper level, or if you want to share different dishes with a bunch of friends around a larger one on the main floor. I highly recommend going there because not only the food is delicious, but also because the staff is incredibly friendly. So even if sometimes we had to wait a bit longer , it was totally worth it.

Great food and friendly service. Took a while at lunch for the food to be cooked but if you're after something new, it's completely different from anything you've tasted! Good range of curries both meat and vegan. Wicked samosa range. Deffinitly worth a visit. Very filling.

I have been there twice. The food is very nice and wonderful flavours and this place is a great addition to our scene in Wellington.I gave a 2 star as this restaurant has service and a consistency that is not as good as its food. Service is slow, unreliable and takeaways are treated more urgently in the restaurant than dine-in customers. Also, family members sit around talkng while customers wait to give their orders. This is wonderful food but this restaurant needs to up its game before I will go back. The Ethiopian restaurant in Tory St has just as good food but much better service.

I've been to Blue Nile a few times now and the food is really great. It caters to all sorts of different tastes and dietary requirements making it a good choice for a special occasion and to make things even better the ladies who run the restaurant are really lovely. Its the kind of place I can take my mum or go for a birthday dinner with friends. Will definitely be back! Looking forward to when they have a liquor licence too - will probably become a regular as opposed to a sometimes food.

Was eager to try this place because we love Ethiopian and Eritrean food at home and were missing it. Service was very sweet but slow. Not sure if that's common, but there seemed to only be one person in the front of the house.Food presentation was nice, but the taste was only ok. All of the veggie combo plate dishes were slightly bland and lukewarm to cool. We were pleased to see Shiro on the menu because it's not always offered at restaurants, but it was almost a tiny bit too salty, though we thought it had good spicy flavor and we liked that it was piping hot.The most disappointing is that all Ethiopian restaurants we've been to before this put the food on one injera and give you another injera for free since it acts as your eating utensils, but here, you only got the one underneath the food and charge for each additional which was disappointing. It's like being charged to get a spoon to eat soup.So all in all, it was ok and I wouldn't actively shun the place but would try out the other Ethiopian restaurants first before coming back.

I love, love Blue Nile. Everything about it. Staff is friendly, food is authentic and delicious. Prices are great for the portions. Just wonderful. If you’ve never had Ethiopian food and want to try it: go for the vegan plate combo ($19) or if theres 2-3 people do the Mahberawi ($60). It’s enormous with a huge, interesting variety of dishes.Perfect option if you’ve got gluten-free or vegan diners with you, as well!!
