Mataura Lodge Athol

Stayed at Mataura Lodge, Athol, NZ over a weekend. Jason was so accommodating getting us in there last minute, even during Matariki. So grateful for your help and kindness.Arriving to the lodge I was stunned by the beauty of the property the setting was magical perfect way to spend my last night in NZ.After entering the property we fell in love. Perfect place to have a few couples away for quiet or loud adult weekend. Furniture, decor, everything fits into the surround so nicely. Beds are like sleeping on clouds, comfortable and clean. Felt like staying at a high end cabin in Aspen yet still felt like a home away from home. Everything you need for a quick weekend get away or a long vacation away.Highly recommend staying here I will definitely be back next visit and would love to stay longer to really enjoy everything the property has to offer. Relaxing morning coffee on the bench swing such a beautiful way to get going for the day. Photos honestly don’t do it justice.Can’t wait to come back and visit. What a lovely place. Well appointed and comfortable. Plenty of room for a longer stay, although we only had one night, as a stop on the Around the Mountains cycle trail. The owners went out of their way to make it a great stay for us.

Such a cool spot, and the house is so full of history. Jason was fantastic to deal with, can’t praise him highly enough as he helped me out at the last minute. You will not be disappointed staying at the lodge. Highly recommend and will definitely be back.

What a gem!! Mataura Lodge is an absolutely great place to stay in the South Island. It's an extremely comfortable, private and relaxing place to stay! Right on The Around the Mountains Cycle Trail and mid way on the road from Queenstown to Milford Sound/Invercargill or Stewart Island. Very quiet and private. Close walking distance to the Athol Shop/Cafe which has delicious food and coffee. The Athol Art Gallery is right next door as well with some amazing art works from local artists. You will not be disappointed with your stay here in this gorgeous country town of Athol NZ . Thank you Jason and Scott we had a wonderful few nights accomadation here with our family.

A beautiful house in lovely grounds, a wonderful place for a break on the Around the Mountains trail. We had the place to ourselves but it has three ensuite double rooms. Great DIY breakfast provided, and choice of a BBQ on the deck, or the Brown Trout a short walk down the road. Complete luxury.

Had an absolutely wonderful stay, very very comfortable and beds were amazing! We had everything we needed and the spot was perfect. We were married in Athol 18 years earlier and loved we could stay at the Lodge to celebrate. Would definitely stay again. Jason was very helpful and friendly.

This is such a luxurious snd tranquil place to stay. Immaculately clean and beautiful surroundings indoor and out. Jason is so helpful and the BBQ meal we ordered had ample tasyy ingredients to cook. An ideal place to stay with a group of friends. We would love to come back

We had such a great time here! Jason was so accommodating and lovely, they even lit the fire for us before we arrived so it was warm when we got there. Super comfy beds and everything was immaculately clean. Highly recommend a stay in this cosy winter lodge
