New Beginnings

First pregnancy, no friends or family in NZ.WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. The first lady gave prescribe me a wrong test, the second one hadn't read my file before our appointment so she didn't know what have been done or not, the third one called us on a Saturday morning that our baby may have Down Syndrome but that we cannot do any further test until the next Monday (enjoy your weekend), and on the Monday, she had forgotten to send the referral for the scan. I also learnt that they screw up the date for one of my blood test for DS and have to do it again (so have to wait even longer to know of DS or no). I finally change for the midwifery in the hospital.It is very hard to have them over the phone, you cannot let voicemail, you cannot send text, sometimes, I had to wait few days before being able to get them. Lack of information, lack of experience and above all, lack of humanity when it comes to announce bad news.

Thank you for taking care of me all the way through my pregnancy, through labour and the postpartum period. I was given helpful advice, the ladies were available 24/7 via phone and they ensured that myself and baby were healthy and safe. Had an amazing birth experience with Kim Billaney, who I was fortunate to have deliver my second child. My whānau and I could not be more thankful for all the ladies at New Beginnings. Ngā Mihi!

I can't express in words how grateful I am with Amanda the LMC from new beginnings. She has been my rock as a midwife. Has been there for me through thick and thin. She was so invested in my pregnancy during delivery that she didn't even have her lunch. I don't have any family or friends support and Amanda presence and support has made huge difference.She is so human and full of kindness and humility, humbleness, and patience during my moaning and crying. I could go on writing how cool she is. Me and my husband we just love her so much for all she has done for us. I am becoming a first time mom and can definitely say I couldn't have done without her.With such excellence all the way in delivery specially as I had complications and the baby wasn't in right position. I had been having contractions for 3 nights and 3 days. She accepted to see me in hospital and helped me deliver it as I can say I ran out of all energy trying to cope for so long. My throat dried, fully dehydrated and pain was a nightmare.When I got discharged and felt a little better, I saw she also managed to capture emotions in pictures of ours right after delivery of baby. It's such a treasure indeed. I am full of gratitude and love every day for her.I also want to mention how amazing all the Lower Hutt hospital staff were. Each and every one is such a great team player. They all made me so comfortable and helped me through. I personally don't think me and my husband would have done without them. I am extremely humbled for everyone support, love, kind, understanding and just being there for me when I needed it.I would like to say a big thank you to each and every one of you. You all are angles to me.
