Very nice forest. Found it 2 years ago before they started the works on the weed removal. It's a far healthier forest now than what it was then. Anyways great walk. Just follow the spray painted paths!

A gorgeous piece of forest located in inner Auckland. The moment you step foot in the forest you realise that there is something special about this place. Because its so old, there are tree species I've never seen so big. To have Kererū flying overhead lets you forget you are in the middle of NZ's biggest city. Every time I leave this place, I can't wait to go back.

Well done volunteers! Yes, it is a wee special piece of land. But we do have a housing crisis. My adult children in Auckland are renting and being forced to move annually as developers re-develop older properties. This is destabilizing for their wellbeing. I hope that discussions with the legal owners of this whenua will be respectful. I understand the land has been appraised by council experts.

Great little slice of paradise in the city and recently there has been an enormous increase in native birds. I guess due to all the hard work being done by the eastern bays birdsong project.

Visited for the first time this week after hearing about the proposed residential development. I'll be honest, it wasn't what I was expecting, but it is special in its own way. There aren't actual paths or tracks so I wouldn't suggest visiting for people who struggle on uneven surfaces. However, this gives it a very authentic feel. For me, the best part was the fantails that followed us as we walked through the forest. It will be dissapointing if this place does go. This ecological area has great potential to make bigger impact on the surrounding environment and local residents wellbeing.

A beautiful suburban forest fragment, home to many native trees and creatures great and small. Should be cherished and protected for generations to come.
