What a fabulous building in a wonderful setting. Clean toilets but staff didn't even acknowledge we were there, photos in displays were faded and tired, and even simple words mis-spelt. Got the impression DoC have become dis-interested.

Must Do. Worth stopping in to get all the info needed on the area. Very helpful/friendly staff. Landscaping around building a must-see. Short Wet-lands walk lovely.

A bit of a rare gem I think. Stopped in for a quick look about 4pm and could have spent a while wandering through the exhibitions but for closing time at 4.30pm. Helpful staff greeted and farewelled us, and the exhibitions and displays were interesting on top of the usual maps and guides available.Definitely worth a look if you are in the area.

This is one of the better visitor centers i’ve seen. comprehensive overview of area and history. wish i had more time to spend at this place

Museum is great and well worth the visit.However the gardens and water features in particular are in a state of disrepair. A bit sad looking as you walk past it to get to the museum. Hope they can fix water features soon.Used to be a great place to stop for lunch or a break before crossing the HAAST river

Haast Visitor Centre
If visiting or passing through Haast you need to stop and visit this center. Typical of New Zealand they had quality exhibits and lots of history and information about the area that will help you understand the wonder that is Haast. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable.

Haast Visitor Centre
This is one of the best information centers in New Zealand in my opinion. A lot of useful information with maps, everything is new beautiful, there is a shop and a small museum inside.
