Never has what I want or need in stock. You would think that this store has a wide variety of products BUT THEY DON'T. Terrible customer service skills. Lost my order and contact details. They don't really care about remaining customers because they are closing down. The owners are batsh-- crazy. I would definitely not go back if they ever reopen.

I am not sure where to start from, to be honest. Great location and the shop is massively big, BUT: empty empty empty. Their product range is '0'.I went to the shop looking for RC Cars and they have '0' in stock; considering that the website shows 2 or 3 available RC's (I am glad I didn't purchase anything online) I asked when they would restock and they said early next week. I went early next week and nothing, so I decided to wait 1 more week and...... nothing. One more week passed and when I arrived at 10:15am the shop was closed considering they open at 9:30am. If you are looking seriously to get into RC Cars, please, don't waste your time and contact Dave from TopShelf in Lower Hutt.

Proprietor really knowledgeable about both stock and craft- even if they don't have exactly what you need in stock, they're sure to find a way to help you get it. I wanted to find some copper wire, and when they realised they didn't have any in stock, the blokes just fully gave me a big ol' length of Cat 5 cable that I could strip it out of. Honestly some of the loveliest people I've met in Wellington. If you're at all interested in anything you think they might stock, head on down. It's definitely worth your time.

ordered online but transpired one item not in stock so nothing shipped. No feedback until I chased up missing order 10 days later.Update - personally delivered with a refund of missing item and a bottle of glue for my trouble.

This place used to be amazing and the staff could tell you which kits were good, if you needed etch/resin upgrades to make a good model, and if you ordered a kit in you knew it would be fast.Sadly this seems to be a thing of the past. High priced items, stock that seems to be being run down with no new items, and staff that don’t seem to have a clue, despite being very nice.I’ll only be echoing other comments about ordering stuff in - there are other model shops in NZ who will do this for you on time. I have written my name and number in their book too many times only to hear nothing.Perhaps a shop that wasn’t so massive that you notice the lack of new stock would be better. Lots of things could be easily changed but it seems nobody cares - putting some advertising up top on Willis St could be an idea as I’m sure a great deal of people don’t even knows it’s there.

Peter is a nice guy but I've had nothing but negative experiences with Modelcrafts and Hobbies. I've been waiting for months, and I've called a dozen times, chasing motors that he said they were getting in. He had to keep chasing the supplier, but was only prompted to do so every time I called or went into the store. After waiting since the start of December I ended up buying the same motor from the USA mid-February - it took two weeks to arrive and in that time still no call from Modelcrafts that they promised for when the motors arrived. I called three times today at different times for some bullet connectors - phone rings for a minute then hangs up; no answer. I feel like I've given this place too enough chances now and I'm just wasting my time.

The shop is fine and they have some pretry cool stuff in stock.But when you Google this place and see the opening time of 9am don't believe it.I've been here twice at 9am, the first time they opened around 9:30am, the second time I gave up after waiting until 10am with no sign of them opening any time soon. Instead I went home and ordered what I was looking for from Acorn Models ... sad as I like to support local businesses when I can and this place is the only game in town when it comes to scale model supplies.Their website gives no information as to their hours of business.To the owner ... if you want staff that can open your business at a set time of day every day please get hold of me, I'll be happy to work for you and be there everyday at 9.

Stumbled into this shop while walking through what seems to be a large number of crappy stores in the BNZ basement. This store however was wonderful, possible a little too big for it's stock. Top staff member, who really know his stuff. Well worth venturing into the bowels of the BNZ.

Looks a good shop but not sure if it's closed down now? Here are 10am Thursday since it was meant to be open with a few other people but agreed it may be shut down? Probably best to phone to see if it's open before turning up. Looks to have reasonable stock though.

Dont waste your time. tried ringing 3 days in a row no answer. 9.46 this morning after 1min phone cuts off. a pitty as i need to buy today and no one else sells gear in Wellington. oh well another online purchase for me then. I dont understand why these guys are still operating actually are the operating???? anyway im glad i didnt drive in from Lower Hutt. Sorry guys but just close up and save everyone the hassle.
