My husband and I love these pies . Not the sea food ones but only because we don't eat sea food. Five stars well earned we say. Only wish we could buy by the box to keep in the freezer.

Yeah really disappointing.. Was hanging out for a smoked fish pie... What happened??? Used to be full of flavour and used to be nice flaky pastry .Need to make them to original recipe even if cost is passed on to us the consumer.. Would happily pay for a quality pie..

Maketu Pies
We had heard of the famous Maketu Pies, so on a recent trip to the Mount, ventured to Maketu to find our Pie. What we found was a commercial building with no public sales, instead having to walk to the corner dairy with a small range (2 flavours) on offer in the pie warmer with ours having to be microwaved ... we felt let down. A cool bakery selling pies to the public, encouraging business, along with 2 local celebrities to boost your brand would be a complete turn around making our experience 5 star!

We enjoy their pies as a weekend treatBut recently I have found the smoked fish pie has changed in taste and found it very overpowering in taste , made me feel sickUsed to be nice and creamyButter chicken is still my hubbies favorite

Maketu pastries were once one of the best. 1 star is generous now. Supermarket pies are full of gristle and poor meat. Sausage rolls are at least edible, just !!!

The state of the building these pies are produced in turned my stomach. Filthy and run down on the outside. Whoever owns this, ummmm, some aesthetics on the exterior at the least is in order. Wouldn't even consider eating what is manufactured on the inside of this sinkhole, ick

Just ate a Beef & Cheese pie. Awesome tasting gravy, nice soft oozing cheese & the pastry lightly browned, light crisp. This takes me back years to first bake

I just had your butter chicken pie and it was delicious. Actually had pieces of chicken in it! The pastry was of a superior standard to any other supermarket pie. After exhaustive tests I declare Maketu the best pie to be found at the supermarket. Most pies are loaded with gravy with no meat to be detected and plonk pastry. I will be a regular consumer. Keep up the fabulous standard.
