The Poi Room

Have actually been to the store for gift inspiration & it's a good place to buy NZ made souvenirs. (apologies for the wrong review earlier, typo indeed in the same of the business!)

Shout out to the fabulous Meg at this super stylish branch of Poi Room, these girls in here work so hard to make sure you come away not just loving a piece for your wall, but with a sparkly appreciation for all art - even stuff you'd never thought about before. They also have impeccable service and solid banter - I come for the chats and end up leaving with something I never knew I needed ♥️

We’ve been super excited to shop at the poi room for awhile now. And went in to purchase a farewell gift for close friends. We wanted to gift them something with deep Te Ao Māori meaning. However we were bitterly disappointed when asking the shop assistant about various pieces, they were first unable to pronounce words correctly and secondly had no knowledge or background on any of the pieces. Something to which I know is important to Māori. It made us incredibly uncomfortable when they went to google what certain basic designs represented. It is saddening that your staff have very limited cultural competency. particularly given they are selling Māori artwork. You would hope this would be a bare minimum requirement for your business. It is doing a massive disservice to the beautiful artists work, please do better.

Loved this gallery off Ponsonby! Some of the nicest staff anywhere in Auckland, great selection of NZ art including authentic ponamu (greenstone) pieces. Free banana flavour lollies too!

This store could give lessons in customer service. I saw online some earrings I loved but out of stock. Amber called the Artist who said she'd make me a pair in 4 days and she did and they're perfect.

Quick turnaround service for an online gift I ordered. Beautifully wrapped with gift tag, and they got all the macrons correct (iykyk) BIG TICK. Lovely Meg helped me with parking and the gift handover whilst my tamariki were in the car. I’ll be back. But more time for an ihu (nosey) for myself!

Such an amazing selection of different art styles. The sales associate was very friendly and helpful.
