Maruia River Retreat

I recently returned to Maruia River Retreat for another stay and I am happy to say that it just keeps getting better!Hosts Lasse and Cristina were once again incredibly hospitable and went above and beyond to ensure my stay was enjoyable.The nature walk was just as stunning as I remembered it, with the Beech Forest & the River providing the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The rejuvenating yoga classes were just what I needed to unwind and find my centre, and I left feeling refreshed and energized. The food was once again a highlight, with the emphasis on sustainability and locally sourced ingredients even more evident than before. I felt good about my travel choices knowing that I was supporting a business that values eco-friendly practices.The accommodations were just as comfortable as I remembered, with everything I needed for a relaxing stay. The attention to detail and comfort was evident in every aspect of the Villa, from the plush bedding to the well-appointed bathrooms. I appreciated the quiet time to myself to read books and simply soak in the beautiful surroundings.Overall, I highly recommend Maruia River Retreat to anyone looking for a peaceful and rejuvenating getaway. It truly is the perfect combination of nature, wellness, and sustainable travel. I can't wait to come back again and experience all that this wonderful retreat has to offer. A truly beautiful place to stay and unwind and relax, stunning bush and river setting, amazing food and facilities. Villa was outstanding with the most comfortable bed and lovely linens, staff where so lovely and made you feel at home as soon as you arrived. Came away fully relaxed and rejuvenated, highly recommend.

My wife and I had a wonderful weekend retreat at Maruia River. Hosts Cristina & Lasse plus their team were extremely caring and thoughtful. The chalet bush setting is wonderful and the food experience was amazing. Plus, the yoga classes in the mornings. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to 'get away' and having a rejuvenating break from busy lives.

I had such a beautiful stay at Maruia. Cristina, Lasse and Jackie were so welcoming and made sure that everything was taken care of so that I could fully relax and unwind. The hot tub in the forest is such a serene experience, the food was exceptionally delicious and the nature was rejuvenating for the soul. I also loved the morning yoga classes and massage chair. I loved my time at Maruia River Retreat. I am a city dweller and find it challening to write and do my creative work in the city. I took this retreat as time to get quiet, practice yoga,meditate, and get a lot of creative work done! It'a perfect place to write and channel your inner voice! The rooms were condusive for getting deep sleep along with forrest bathing to cultivate deep relaxation. The food was delicious and the staff was extremely accommodating! I can't wait to go back!

My partner and I were in much need of some r&r and that is exactly what we got. We’ve never slept so well .Scenery was amazing, food absolutely delicious and personable service! X

Wow this place is really lovely. I have stayed or visited Maruia Springs resort many times over the past 20 or so years and seen it’s fortunes go up and down. It has always been a beautiful location but the facilities have not always done it justice. I think it’s present incarnation is definitely it’s best. The accommodation has been upgraded to a high standard. Loved the selection of loose herbal teas and the Nespresso machine in our standard room. The food was nothing short of glorious and the wait service impeccable. We loved everything especially the peaceful ambience. Very zen. I wish we could have stayed longer and will definitely be back.

What a beautiful and tranquil retreat location. We came for a teacher training with an international visiting teacher and it was the perfect location.Everything from the nature walks to the forest bathing, cooling off in the river to the choice of two saunas, the food to the beautifully appointed rooms, the hospitality of Cristina, Jackie and the team, all outstanding.If your looking to rest, restore and rejuvenate then this is your place.

I stayed during winter last year and had the luck of having the whole place by myself. It is the most peace I have felt in my life. The owners and workers are very warm and compassionate down to earth people. I was in a dark place and the owners gave me some really good advice. They're very experienced and passionate with yoga with over at least a decade of experience. The forest is so beautiful, it has rivers flowing across. The finnish dry spa and hot tub was amazing- did not try the regular sauna. The cherry on top was the food, it was absolutely divine, high quality and creative. I had little to no appetite normally but I ate everything there. They have put a lot of passion into what they love and it shows. The only thing to watch out for is the unpredictable weather and wear non slip shoes.
