Awesome museum and while some may complain about the size I think it’s about right. The entry price includes viewing for all movies including dome and good value for money in my humble opinion. A good history of the local characters, although Tenzing Norgay gets short shrift yet again in the history told here on the displays just like everywhere else - this guy carried Edmund Hillary’s stuff up Everest and yet the other guy gets most of the credit!

the femanle cashier with long yellow hair, who was working in the morning of 08-May-2023 (might be Johanna), didnt even want to give u one more pen to write post card even they still have a box of pens for use, no other customers here, and just talking with others.after you paid the money, she didnt want to spend more time on you and would like to spend more time to talk and laugh with each other.

The female cashier, who we suspect may be named Johanna, was extremely rude and her behavior was unacceptable. It seemed like she may have been discriminatory towards us based on our race. She definitely needs further training in customer service, as her behavior left a bad impression on us. It's hard to imagine how she can effectively train others if she can't treat customers with basic respect. For instance, when we asked for a pen to write some postcards, she flat-out refused us. However, we were able to get a pen from another staff member after she left. Overall, our experience with this cashier was disappointing and we hope the management takes steps to improve her customer service.

What a tourist trap! Don't bother going its literally a few vehicles some pictures and then stuff about the hotel.what a waste of money. Go to the doc museum down the road better and free!

The museum was pretty basic tbh although I liked the movie about the 1st Everest climb by Sir Edmund Hillary. I would have liked to see original climbing gear, more explanation about the Hillary Step or how they trained before going to the Himalayas here in Mt Cook. In short, it’s pretty pricey for the content but worth spending an hour or two if the weather is bad outside.

Awful wrap. Facilities were nice, and I loved the scenery- picturesque. However, when i'm out in the cold for hours and my feet are soaking wet from snow- I needed a good solid wrap. Definitely a tourist trap. Museum was nice, but after 25 minutes you’re left wandering around a little miffed. I want to say because this was important to me; very unfortunately the wrap did not deliver. The feta ratio was entirely off (literally an entire feta block's worth) and none of it tasted fresh. soggy wrap with feta and the occasional leaf If I was lucky. It was meant to be have a variety of flavour, instead it was a soggy wrap with triple feta, a single lettuce leaf and single floury tomato slice. Surely it just had to be my luck, I’ll give benefit of the doubt. Though, went to glenorchy a few days later and had a better wrap there, 10/10 for that one. The most gorgeous pulled pork, packed with flavour and a variety of fresh ingredients- had scenery just as beautiful too.

During our visit today at 9:00 am, the lady working as a cashier provided us with unclear information and was extremely impatient when we tried to clarify if there was any chance to reschedule our glacier explore tour. Her behavior was very rude and unprofessional towards us as customers. We were disappointed with the level of customer service we received from her.

I had wanted to go here for years. It wasn’t what I expected, I was thinking bigger and just about Sir Hillary’s hiking expeditions. The museum was in the Hermitage Hotel. It was informative about Sir Hillary and other adventurers and half about the Hermitage Hotel and some cars that first got there in 1906. You walk in the door and can see the whole centre but can read through the displays in half an hour. There was a movie playing, I think about Sir Hillary I didn’t see any information. But it sounded interesting. There is different movies in a planetarium type room that made the $20 with it. You enter through the Hotel gift shop and buy your tickets there. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Drove all the way up here on the Saturday in school holidays and its shut for a large group. Talk about caring about the average kiwis. Not happy.

This is a museum dedicated to the life and achievements of Sir Edmund Hillary. This is situated inside the Hermitage hotel, however is open for all visitors.Lots of information and personal artifacts from Sir's life are well kept and preserved here.A large life sized status of Sir looking at Mount Cook is an interesting and nicely curated artifact. It is another hidden gem in the area and seeming not very popular with the tourists. However it is a nice and highly recommended place. The location is really scenic and one can find variety of landscapes depending on the season of visit.
