A 10 minute drive from the car park. A nice cluster of boulders similar to Moeraki Boulders but with less tourists

Many many thanks to the owners of the land for allowing NZMCA vehicles to park up. We appreciate it and I'm sure many others do too.

The beach offers stunning views of the ocean and the surrounding coastline, making it a great place to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the area. There is a seal colony andthe pink limestone at Ward Beach is particularly notable because it contains numerous fossils, including those of marine animals such as ammonites, belemnites, and bivalves, which lived millions of years ago when the area was covered by the sea.The uplift of the limestone has exposed the rock to the surface, where it is now visible and accessible to visitors. There are concretion boulders at Ward Beach. Some of the boulders can weigh several tons and reach over two meters in diameter. They are scattered throughout the beach.
