Like the movies used to be. But better.

Boutique Theatre recently renovated and upgraded with original features still intact. An elegant historic theatre which has been restored to its former 1921 glory. Creating an atmosphere of a bygone era. Watch a wide screen digital 2D movie in the comfort of a couch. Upstairs includes some of the original theatre seats. Golds & Black are the feature colours throughout the foyer. While three stunning art deco styled chandeliers grace the ceiling; a bold geometric carpet entrance. You will find many original fittings and doors in use today. Great murals of old movies on the parapets outside. Full credit has to be given to the Community and the Volunteers who run the show. A special mention to Debbie Campbell who managed the Renovation and Earthquake strength'g and council requirements of the building. There was a time not so long ago when they had Lions in the theatre and the people were caged inside.

Lovely little cinema, there's only one screen but showing the latest films (one per day it seems).The sofas are all big and comfy with lots of extra pillows and cute crochet blankets. Had a vintage feel we the decor too. Run by welcoming and passionate people.Very reasonable tickets, $12 for an adult.Nice little experience in Opunake :)

Watched the new Avatar movie. Very boutique theatre. Couches with blankets and coffee table for your food. Upstairs was seating in bigger comfy chairs

Love this cinema! I travel from Hawera to Opunake when I want to see a movie. Great experience and great service. Keep up the fantastic work :)
