The Good Companion

We have been really impressed with our contact with the GC. Initially with Alicia D (ally) who has kept in touch with us and found us the lovely Pauline who goes in to see our Dad. She is caring and very thoughtful. Ally is very good and keeping us up to date with everything and any changes. Very happy, thank you.

My partner has dementia and as I’m a lot younger I still work full time around this. I wanted to give him the best possible help and brain stimulation. Our companion is amazing. We couldn’t cope without her around. It is well worth the money and our companion has already been through our situation so understands. She is magic. Thank you.

We used the Good Companions while my daughter was away overseas. Amanda came over 3 weekends. She was extremely supportive and a delight to have in the house.we can highly recommend the Good Companions

Great experience and service from The Good Companion. After losing her ability to drive, we wanted to provide our mother with the flexibility of being able to go out to places and have regular social contact with a companion, and not being solely reliant on family members. After registering our interest with TGC online, we were contacted quickly by email and phone to discuss our mother's needs in more detail, then an in-home introduction visit with our mother was organised, with my sister present. Before that could be held our mother had a fall and the visit was easily deferred until she was back on her feet again. Despite our concerns that she might resist a 'stranger' supporting her, she very much enjoyed the first 2-hour outing, and looks forward to planning where she will go with her Companion each week. It's given her someone new to talk to, and a greater level of independence and interest, now that her driving days are behind her. In hindsight we should have signed up with TGC for the regular additonal contact and outings even when our mother was still able to drive, but this was the trigger for making the move. We had the best experience with The Good Companion from the moment I called to enquire. They followed up with an email, and a meeting with the Area Coordinator, all very quickly. My mum needed support after having a knee operation, and the Public system were so overloaded, they didn't call us until after mum had been released from hospital. Mum's carer Salote was incredible. She really took care of my mum, and is a very important person in my mum's life. Without Salote it would have been super stressful for me and my mum. She showered mum, helped her get dressed, help with jobs around the house, shopping etc She was a true god-send and we are so grateful for her. Thank you Salote, and The Good Companion. Amazing service and I highly recommend them.
