Parents allowing their young children to swim on either side of this busy highway is so dangerous, when you have the rest of the river to take them to swim/play. In Summer, I don't blame traffic for getting worried.Parents, one couple in particular, visibly inebriated, who are visiting this area and staying in tents etc, abusing drivers, threatening drivers this week, just boggles the mind. There is a 30k sign just before the decline on the Leeston side of the ford and this does not get adhered to by some drivers, for sure. Maybe in needsct9 get reduced from 30Ks. Some drivers, staying here and old enough to know better are also driving much too fast through the camping area, no thought for the younger generation, or anyone for that matter. It is a lovely relaxing place though.

Always a beautiful free camp to go to just out of Christchurch 25 mins. Lots of birds sounds and this time the river looked really lovey and clear..normally has algi bloom of some sort..plenty of room to camp and clean toilets and rubbish disposal..so please DON'T dump toilet paper and WET wipes by the trees thank you. No NEED for littering..Im sick of finding that sort of thing. Look after this place Please and have some respect ok.

Good amenities with plenty of camping area. You can't take your dog and the Selwyn river isn't the best for swimming in.

Outstanding place to have one night away off grid or multiple nights. Plenty of open space that is mostly flat. River is swimmable with sections of deep areas.

Lovely place. Work occurring that prevents access to some toilets at present. Can see the potential of the place for future trips.

Still the place of my childhood!! One place that hasn't changed. Maybe it did but she's back to herself now...Pollen is huge so take your antihistamine! Pitch up and wild out...love it...
