OCHO Chocolate Factory

My friend and I loved the chocolate and the tour. For the price of the tour you get a guided tasting that really demonstrates the differences between industrial chocolate and single origin, no slave labor made chocolate with unique flavors. Plus you go home with a delicious bar of chocolate. Make this a stop while you’re in Dunedin!

A new venture that has been going only a few years but is expanding. Chocolate factory tour and taste very good. Staff excellent and very helpful.

I made an extra effort to drive out to the chocolate factory and it was certainly worth it. Super friendly and helpful welcome, exploring the idea behind OCHO and where the cocoa farmers grow the plants. I was able to try different chocolates and they were delicious.

Loved this local NZ Chocolate factory in Dunedin. We did the tour which was great - learned a lot about producing good chocolate and the Pacific Island beans they use. Also great tasting where we were able to compare their own chocolates against commercially produced versions. Very small scale production but very focused on doing the ‘right things’.

We walked to the shop without knowing much about it, except that it sold chocolate. When we entered we were expecting to see something along the usual chocolate factory experience, that's cafe, shop etc.The lady said they were mainly a wholesale company but we could taste some samples if we wanted to buy anything. No mention of a tour. We visited here because they were on a tourists brochure of Dunedin. Only found out about that by checking google reviews, after walking back to town.

Awesome service, the staff member was very well informed about the chocolate being sold, the taste and the origin. Also gave out samplers and the hot chocolate choices were very new and exciting! Definitely recommend and will go again!

Specifically came by for breakfast since we were running out of time in Dunedin. It was a bit hard to find since there was building works and the entrance was partially covered with scaffolding.They specialise in proper chocolate. They have hot chocolate options with different cocoa percentages, the menu on the blackboard beside the counter. They also had cabinet food which also had chocolate in it. It did take a while for the hot chocolates to arrive but when they did you can see why. We had different faces for the three different hot chocolates.I personally found the hot chocolate (the lowest cocoa percentage) a bit too bitter. The flavours were interesting but it too dark for me. The brownie was a bit better but still on the bitter side. THe caramel slice was good especially with the tempered chocolate on top, but it did make it harder to share. This isn't the place for sweet chocolate items.They also sell their chocolate block on the shelves near the counter. A great place for those who love their dark chocolate.

Such a fun place to visit - absolute must do when in Dunedin. Such a transparent process, especially when the company is owned by locals. The tasting was soenlightening - absolutely reminds you why quality over quantity.A big shout out to Grace - whomade our experience totally worth it.

Must visit for chocolate lovers. Chocolate are made beautifully and offers a wide range of interesting flavours, from single origins to festival themed chocolate.Chocolates are all ethnically sourced, and the makers have great pride with their work. It's not priced at Whittaker's or Cadbury, but you definitely will appreciate the craft and dedication put into your bar. Great way to #supportlocal too.
