If I could give ten stars I would!! Just do it!. Simply the best experience ever. We rang Debs and organised a “Bespoke” trek for just the two of us for our Anniversary and she delivered. I am not confident with horses and was so excited to be on top of beautiful gentle Calusa following Debs through creeks, gentle hills, listening to her sharing her knowledge of the area. I was beyond words. She even had me trotting and I got a gold star for a two second canter! It was my gorgeous horse that did that – but when you are sitting up on her big saddles with a Horn" to hang onto and living the moment it was incredible

Couldn’t recommend this anymore. Debs is my new favourite person. Knowledgeable about the beautiful scenery you ride through on lovely gentle horses that have get up and go when you want it. Varied abilities in group and Debs is great at letting the more experience riders have a crack and getting some speed and also encouraging new riders to learn by doing, my partner cantering for the first time and is now much more comfortable on horses. It was great, we both loved it.

Absolutely amazing experience. Debs took the time to learn our names and chat to us during the ride, and tried to make the ride better by delaying the start time to let the fog disperse (which made it fun and mystical anyway). The drive there from Queenstown was beautiful. I've been on a couple horse treks before and this was far better - we were constantly given feedback and tips, and we got to experience a bit of faster riding, catering to all levels of experience in our group. Debs also made the effort to get really nice photos of us during the ride. Would not hesitate to go back next time I visit Queenstown.

Horse trekking with Deb was the highlight of my holiday to New Zealand, such an amazing and unique way to see the countryside. The horses are lovely and gentle and Deb's knowledge of the landscape and local flora and fauna made the experience much more valuable than any old trot around the hills - would absolutely recommend this experience.

Highly recommend Backcountry Saddles, the 2 hour horse-ride was a highlight of our trip. Deb was informative, encouraging and funny. The trek encompasses some riding instruction if you need or want it, we felt safe and in good hands. The horses were beautiful appaloosas and easy to ride. The countryside was beautiful.

I would recommend Deb and her horses to anyone passing through. Trek is stunning, horses well paired with their humans and there’s a bunch of information about the surroundings coming from Deb. Suitable for beginners and more experienced riders. Two hours included walking, trotting and some gallop. Loved every sec<3
