Harvey Normal is a brand that you can trust. The products you get vary from decent to best quality products which of course comes at a cost. The customer service here is good and friendly staff. The product has beds, sofas, bedding, and electronic and home appliance sections. Plenty of free parking outside.

EDIT: I made a complaint via website and the store manager was VERY quick to give me a call to apologise.My partner was sick, so he asked me to collect a mouse and mouse pad for him. He did the click and collect order online as per the instructions. His name was the billing name, and he put my name as the person who was picking up. I went up to the 2 girls at the photo centre, the blonde girl asked for my ID and the email. I did mention my partner made the order and put it under my name to pick up. Neither of the girls could find the order until the other girl asked to look at the email, which she then said Oh it's under (partner's name)". Then this whole drama about how "we need his ID

I wasn't too happy with the store.I bought one item on line, it was a small item, so I chose the pick up for free option. The information given at the time said that they will either text me or email me when the item was ready for collection. Weeks pass and nothing, finally I got tired of waiting and give them a call. It turns out the item was there all along , the person in charge of the warehouse just can't do his job properly. He was very goog at making up excuses though. Disappointed!

I paid over $4,000 for some furniture at Harvey Norman and the sales told me they were made of pine. When I received the items, it turned out that the main component of the furniture was MDF (more than 50%), so I asked for refund. At this point, the sales and her boss told me that it is common knowledge that New Zealand furniture contains MDF (even if it contains a lot), just like buying a car, no one will tell you what materials the car is made of. Although the salesperson did not introduce the item correctly, it was not their fault but my lack of common sense. I'm so sorry because integrity isn't worth $4,000 here. But from another point of view, I only spent $4,000 to let a brand that has been in business for many years take off the mask of integrity, and I think it is still very worthwhile.

Expensive, helpful up until the point of sale, and not interested in helping when they talk you into buying an inferior and more expensive product! Argumentative on the phone, I ended up upset. I spoke with the store manager.EDIT - issue was resolved by instruction from the store owner.

Comprehensive big box store with many of the things you'd want to junk up your house. Very nice sales team in furniture. Although there prices are not always as glittery as they portray them in the papers or other media. I'd still shop Smith City. But, I can't fault them really. Even though it's an Aussie boat on Kiwi waters
