My optician referred me to Dr James Leong at The Terrace Eye Centre for cataract surgery, and the entire experience has been superb. The initial testing by the staff and the consultancy with James was very friendly, professional and informative, and I left with high confidence that the surgery in two weeks would be safe and successful, and that the lens selection I made with James would be perfect for my active and varied lifestyle at age 68.My surgery experience at Bowen Hospital was outstanding. The friendly and professional nursing staff made sure the pre-op process was relaxing and stress-free, and I had a few laughs with the male nurse and hence zero stress when being wheeled into surgery. James operated on both eyes sequentially, and the entire experience under local anaesthetic was a breeze, with no discomfort or stress at any stage. James talked me through each surgical step, so I had no surprises in spite of the inevitable amazing light show. I was happily heading home with my wife after only 3 hours at Bowen armed with clear instructions from the nurse and my post-op kit of eye drops and wipes.I had a minor query that evening so texted James expecting a simple text response, but he called me back for a post-op chat even though he had been in surgery all day. The post-op checkup the next day at The Terrace Eye Centre with the nurse and then James was great, and I left knowing I now had 20/20 vision. Taking eye drops for one month since then has been a very minor inconvenience.The operation has been 110% successful, as my eyes are perfectly healthy plus I now have 20/20 vision from close-up to infinity. I love my new crisp vision when driving and mountain biking (especially with yellow-tinted wrap-around sunglasses), and when reading my phone, computer monitor, books and music. I was very happy to donate 3 excellent pairs of prescription glasses to my optician to pass on to charity.I love technology, but I am really in awe of the equipment used in my surgery and the skill and professionalism of James and his team that has resulted in this life changing outcome for me.
