Lake Tekapo Tavern

Delicious chicken bombshell. Go for it burger was pretty good. Staff could use a few more smiles, but were friendly enough. Fireplace and pool table, plenty of seating. Music and video clips playing on the TV. Normal beer selection for a south island tavern. Average but liked it.

Fun little sports bar with a pool table, darts, and TVs!

We had the worst service at this pub. As a hospitality worker myself- I can't believe how rude and arrogant the staff were. They refused to serve a family member shots, but continued to serve a different family member the same amount of shots. They would walk past customers who wanted to be served and had no sense of personality and were not hospitable at all.I would never act towards customers the way they did, I find it very disrespectful and arrogant.Never coming back to this pub.Absolute Sharon's.

Terrible food, especially the chips. Staff was rude and witnessed a customer being yelled at. The manager is defensive, which you can see upon reading their reply to other bad reviews, blaming staff or customers for abusing" staff. Locals treated better

Nice location, but had to wait over a hour for food and were not warned this when we ordered (for 2 people). They were serving meals out one at a time, regardless of table size and had to wait at least 15 minutes between each main meal for table members. If in a hurry avoid

Walked in and had to wait to be aknowedged. Upon ordering the lady behind the counter said what a sad sorry lot you all are. There were 12 people waiting to be served at this point.The meal arrived with hair in the sour cream wedges. The garlic bread was store bought and cold. The salad consisted of grated carrot half a red onion and 3 pieces of spring onion. . In the hour we were there no other tables were cleaned and the place was a mess Customers were even wiping tables down before they could sit.We could hear the manager yelling at other staff saying. .Bloody staff. They never do what you ask "All in all. Displeasing experience and not a restaurant we will visit again"

Local bar and pub, friendly enough but closed at 10pm before sjy watching tour started and put chairs on tables around us

Poor service . Understaffed. Refused to pay for meal. Undercooked salmon , overcooked steak. Had to retrieve our meals from servery. Tables not cleared. A great opportunity for someone to start up and promote Tekapo with great service rather than just collecting the dollars. Would not visit here again.

Came in around 8pm on a Saturday night because they were the only place open. We decide to get some dessert (which was displayed on a chalkboard at the front of the bar) and wedges- only to be told desert is closed due to the kitchen and we aren't doing bowls of wedges. only baskets of bulk fried foods." (so why give us the menus??) So we decide to just get some non alcoholic drinks. All the while the bartender does not smile

This place used to be amazing, great food and awesome staff. Sadly it feels as though it's under new management. Unfriendly unhelpful staff, they only actually have about 5 things from their 30+ item menu, no drink prices listed. To top it off the kitchen lady practices around 0 food health and safety general practices. Food portions and quality have suffered very badly. Only 2 stars insyead of 1 out of nostalgia for how things used to be.
