What's not to like? These guys are legit.Did my research on an expensive item and had previously overlooked Gearshop because I thought their pricing was too good to be true.Emailed an enquiry re availability & shipping ETA. They responded promptly and honestly citing expected delays from Nelson to Auckland given ferry outages and cyclones.Took the plunge & purchased on a Sunday with an expectation of 2 weeks or so delivery. It arrived in 5 days.Great service, great price, sign-up discount, earned gear points toward next purchase. Will buy again.

The shoes that I bought from Gearshop were not labelled correctly. They were at least 2 full US sizes too small (US men's 7 instead of US men's 9). This is obviously a manufacturer defect and not the stores fault.However the store refused to follow NZ consumer law and refund them and refund shipping costs for the defective products. Sadly as these laws are not enforced in NZ unless I was to take it to a district court (which costs more than the shoes in court fees alone) they can seemingly do whatever they want.So be warned, if you buy from them they will not accept refunds even if they are at fault. After a lot or arguing they finally agreed to refund the shoes but not the shipping (still illegal). And to this day still insist that there is nothing wrong with the shoes, despite not actually checking them at any point....So do yourself a favour and shop somewhere else...

Order 2 x items on the 10th May 2023. A parcel eventually arrived on the 22nd May with only one item in it. I waited for a few days for the 2nd item before started contacting the shop. Today is 1st Jun, the 4th day since I started the contact. There were no email or phone responses at all. It left you in the dark on what's going on with the purchase or if you could get your money back.There are plenty of other similar shops selling the products. Do not use this one.

I absolutely love my boot dryers. Fabulous after a day in the mud with the gumboots getting wet, to be able to have warm dry gumboots in the morning. Great service from Gearshop, I have now bought two more boot dryers as gifts. They arrive quickly and the whole process is so simple.

**edited - This review was originally one star as I was very disappointed with dispatch times for a watch I ordered as the website claimed dispatch would occur within 5 business days and that's not what I experienced. After being contacted by the owner regarding my experience I am now aware that there was an issue with the shipping information not being updated correctly on the website (the section that I read must have been an old one). When the owner called me, he was very professional and nice even though I had just given them a one star review and I respect that. I decided to change my review to 5 stars because being a business owner myself I understand how hard it can be to keep things updated and that it's easy to miss things like keeping the shipping information accross every little hidden corner of a website the same. We're all only human and I appreciate the way this was handled.

I ordered backpack from online shop. Price was the best available. However, delivery to Queenstown took about week.There was a small problem with the item, but it wasn't in any case fault of the store. More like factory problem, but customer service was very good. Communication was fast and solution acceptable.

Bought two peak design bags on their boxing day sale. Never sent a shipping notice, a week later I emailed them asking for an update. Customer service told me to wait a few more days. Almost three weeks later I email them again asking for an update. Customer service advises that they are out of stock until late February. Never got any updates and had to follow up myself just to be told that they don't even have stock of my item. Waste of time will never shop here again.

I was a repeat customer and had a pleasant shopping experience with Gearshop up until now. My last order however changed what I think about them. I placed an order over the phone and paid for it on 28 June. Today is the 18 July and I am still waiting for it to arrive. I never received a confirmation email or a courier tracking number. I repeatedly emailed them - no reply. When I finally managed to speak to them, they mentioned something about delays from one of their warehouses, but said it was shipped a while ago blaming NZ Post for being slack. I've emailed them twice for the tracking number, you guessed it...no reply. That was more than a week ago, still waiting for my order to arrive. This is very poor and evasive customer service and I won't go near them ever again.

I bought a 3x3 tarp. All good but the advertised price was a fair bit lower than the charged price. Turns out the the advertised tarp was out of stock and the only ones left were the more expensive version. I ended up getting it - it was discounted so was probably a good price. Just felt a bit mislead by the website advertising items that weren't actually available. Good for them - it got me into the site and they got the sale - maybe just not another one.

Bad experience- shipping to Auckland took 14 days- I’ve been gone by the time the item arrived - no refund - only store credit for international traveler - when my friend send the item back I never got a credit - 2 month later I ask about my credit and they totally forgot about it …. Bad service- email contact takes them forever to respond- VERY unfriendly on the phone!My worst experience of online shopping and I’m a ultralight Thruhiker- most of my gear and equipment comes from onlineshops.
