Doughboats Lake Taupo

Was a fun morning out with a friend. Perfect for some time out on the beautiful lake. Doughboats staff were awesome, helpful and made sure we knew what we were doing. Bluetooth on board let us play our own music. The wind meant our trip was cut short by a small amount of time but the staff were onto it and made sure we were safe at all times.Highly recommended for anyone to go on while in Taupō.

Wow what an amazing experience! Would highly recommend to anybody & everybody, locals & tourists alike to give this a try whether it be just you & your partner or a small group of friends/colleagues.Owners - James & Laurel Kells were some of the nicest small business owners we've come across, they made sure we were well looked after & showed us how to operate the easy to use Doughboat, which was kitted out with LED lighting & a Bluetooth Speaker, combined with our own Pizza & Drinks we were allowed to bring aboard made for an unforgettable evening with my Wife & I on our Wedding Anniversary.Overall we had a 10/10 experience out on the lake and will be back again in the near future with our friends & family!Kind Regards - Nick Ferguson.

Welcoming and friendly staff, different way of enjoying Lake Taupo, but such a vibe! Took our own snacks, but would definitely recommend taking a couple cold brews and a blanket. Enjoyable with your partner or friends :)

Really nice way to experience lake taupo. Very comfortable with a heater on board to keep us warm + we are able to bring our own meal with us. Would definitely come back and do it again

What a laugh!!!We drove from Auckland at 4am to be on the 8am Doughboat for a friends 50th Birthday.The crew were amazing and patient (especially Adam).Who did have a laugh as we left the Doughboat.Would highly recommend for all ages.Well done guys :)

Fun little cruise around the lake/ beautiful and relaxing...especially early in the morning! Clean facilities and staff very helpful. One suggestion would be good if there were bigger doughboats so you can have a few more people together.

Doughboat is an amazing concept and lake is beautiful. However our boat did not fonction well. We had to stay close to the shore with the anchor and come back. The staff did not look sorry at all and did not offer us a free ride or anything, like if they knew our engine was broken. Don't take the boat #2, if you can choose.

The best way to enjoy the views of Taupo!

Utterly terrifying. Avoid.The company advises adults to remove their lifejackets when swimming but the vessels only have rope ladders for getting back onboard.The vessels have curved sides so the ladders curve underneath when you try to use them.It is possible with considerable effort to haul yourself back onboard but that’s really only feasible for adults with considerable upper body strength. No explanation is provided about proper technique or the inherent risks.We were at real risk of drowning for the sake of a rigid ladder for boats which cost $80.

Fun and unique experience cruising the beautiful Lake Taupo in Doughboat. We brought our mom and aunt on board as they are afraid to kayak or jet ski in the lake, they ended up having so much fun enjoying the sunset and scenery. Thea has been wonderful and checking in on us to ensure we have the safety on and took some memorable pictures for us. Worthwhile and remarkable experience!
