Ann and Fiona are great. Very helpful and hospitable. Friendly and available when needed but gave us space as well. All the food was perfectly cooked. The poached duck eggs for breakfast were a real treat. The dinners were delicious and everything was done just right. We lvoed our stay here and would like to come back again

Absolutely wonderful. Ann and Fiona pampered us with fine food and wine, which could not have been easy in such a remote location. The historic house and lodgings are beautiful and the grounds delightful. A true highlight of a wonderful trip to the Northlands.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Waipoua Lodge for one night - how we wished we were able to stay longer! It was so tranquil and serene - it was pure relaxation to sit out on the deck and enjoy the scenery.Ann and Fiona are so welcoming - we felt as though we were staying with favourite family members. The food and wine were divine especially the prawns!Thank you Ann and Fiona for making our stay memorable for all the right reasons.Suzie and Darrin

Once upon a time my parents bought a tea rooms called Katui Homestead. They bought it from the Newman's family who had lived their for decades and were connected to a bus company. The tearooms were low money for high work so they started to use my stepmothers cooking skills as a restaurant, eventually rebranding to waipua lodge. My father built a lake and Bush tracks I used to take university friends to visit, and one day my dad said he was going to convert the daggy calf shed for us to stay in. He over-converted it, and advised us it was going to be holiday accommodation and we couldn't afford to stay there. The sheep pen was converted next, and my stepbrother built a third one. Eventually my parents left, but we frequently visited omapere, where we would ask about the lodge and always be told that successive owners were popular and doing well. The subsequent owners having upgraded significantly and created the five star accommodation that still seems to continue to get high ratings. So my five stars is based on memories and other people's ratings, but I will always remember riding my motorbike up that hill, and just as the weather changes and you could see the sunset off to the left you would know you were almost home.

We booked out the whole lodge for three nights for a surprise getaway celebrating my Mum’s 70th birthday. Ann and Fiona were excellent hosts and made the whole experience quite a pleasure. Everything was superb from catering and help planning through to local knowledge and of course the beautiful accommodation and setting. A well deserved 5 stars. Thank you.

Hosts Fiona and Anne were outstanding and made it a very special time for us all. We’ll be back. Maybe next time sneak away on our own! Blair and Maureen

We loved our stay at Waipoua Lodge! The Calf Pen room was large and the bed was a cloud. We loved the bush walk down to the viewing point. This lodge is so serene and peaceful. I wish we could have stayed longer. Ann and Fiona were so friendly and made you feel so welcome. Their attention to detail really sets this place above. And the food was divine!!!

Ian and Fran are stunning hosts - catering superbly to the quirky needs of each of us with grace and warmth - and a smile always. The sleeping quarters are uniquely luxurious and comfortable and the food is out of this world. Each meal was an experience to savour and draw out as long as possible. Ours was a family gathering - where we could all relax, enjoy each others company and create wonderful memories - thanks to Ian and Fran and this beautiful historic lodge.
