Great little museum. Full of interesting information. We loved the video about private Wellington cable cars - who knew.

The people who run this are so passionate it made me want to join them. My kids (3yr and 4yr) loved the tram ride and had a great time ringing the bell in the museum.

It's such a cool piece of New Zealand history. Great for the kids and adults, lol. If only they kept the trams running in Wellington... We wouldn't have the issues that we face today with traffic and public transport etc. The team here is really passionate, enthusiastic, and informative here, so make sure to ask heaps of questions.

The trams are from the 1920s and 1930s and were used in Wellington. Now they restored and cared for by volunteer members of the Wellington Tramway Museum. As it's a not-for-profit incorporated society there are donation box if you wish to contribute. The museum includes more trams, old trams that need restoring, history of the trams and lots more to look around. They have a video running that explores the history which also includes black and white video footage. Open on Saturdays and Sundays, it's worth the time to visit. They have trams that run from the museum down to the beach and back - what a great idea.

Great place to visit if you're at all interested in the history of trams in New Zealand.Beautifully restored trams run a 10 minute journey to the nearby coastal walk. And you can ride the trams as much as you'd like (rather scenic I might add).Good fun for the kids if they enjoy trains/trams.Also a neat little museum at the site.
